Yup, the selection was pretty poor. Saw a ton of 'Californication' seasons on DVD for $5 each. Picked up the following BDs:

Contraband/Savages/Sabotage 3 disc set (Universal) - $5
Bloodrayne: The Third Reich (Phase4 films) - $1.88
Killer Movie (Phase4 films) - $1.88
The Drop (Fox) - $2.88
Because of Winn Dixie (Fox) - $3

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Went to a Big Lots that was about 10+ miles farther than the one I currently frequent.

I hadn't been in this particular store in a while and it was great to see they had 2 Cardboard Displays & 1 (4-Sided) Wire Rack of various Blu-Rays & DVDs. These were all probably normal items on-sale but the selection was solid and I ended up picking up a few things.

Apollo 13: 20th Anniversary Edition
($5)
Robocop (2014) ($1.88)
Chasing The Dragon ($2.88)
Ali: The Director's Cut ($3)

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Went to the Pearl St "Super Store" today with a $5 of $15; $15 off $50. They had the largest selection of both blu & dvd I've seen in a long time, but little of interest to me. There must have been 30 used copies of Cars blu @ $10.

I was able to find 4, but the lines were WAY too long, so I put them back.

What I almost bought:

blu:
Jurrasic Park
Puss In Boots
Apollo 13

dvd: Howard Lovecraft & the Undersea Kingdom (I find the 2 that are on disc kinda cute.)

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Found copies of Machete & Machete Kills for $3 a piece, as well as Bridesmaids for $5.

Picked up The Guest for a friend of mine for $3.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Hit the other BL in the city where I live. Blu quantities are WAY UP, but titles are mostly pretty cheesy.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I came across a Big Lots today with virtually no Blu-rays. They still had plentiful DVDs, but nary a BD in sight.

Interesting. Both BL's here currently have more blu than dvd. I wonder what our different experiences mean, if anything.

Who knows? Here it's a roughly 4:1 ratio of DVD:BR.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I swung into my local Big Lots last week while running errands. Had a hard time finding the movie section, which they had moved towards the rear of the store.

Wasn't expecting to find anything, but left with:

Transporter 1 and Transporter 2; I think they were $1.88 each
Out of the Furnace $3
Apollo 13 $3
Robocop (original) $3
A few others that I can't think of at the moment.

Robocop I was happy to find as I still only had the Criterion dvd. There were TONS of copies of the NEW Robocop reboot, and after digging through all of the blu-ray section I didn't find the original like I had hoped. Then I moved over to the dvd and music cds, and 1 copy of the original was hiding in the middle of a dvd row. Someone must have hidden it there in purpose.

Both Robocop Blu Rays (original and remake) have been showing up at Dollar Tree for $1.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

My local store had a new batch of $3 titles (the receipt indicated they were "January" for the 2 I picked up). What I recall seeing:

Anthropoid
Tigerland
Trainwreck (still other copies priced at $5)
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Zombie Night
Kevin Hart: What Now?
Karate Kid (original)
Karate Kid II

I've heard of a big 3-D batch hitting stores recently.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Maybe a restock. A couple new names popped up, but most of the titles people have posted have been in and out of many stores for 4-5 months. I saw a bunch in my store around BF though none I didn't already have.
A bunch of Dreamworks titles seemed to the biggest groups.

Warcraft 3D was new to me - most people have not seen this in store

Rio 2
Mr Peabody
Rise of the Guardians
Shrek - I was at least 3 of these
Puss in Boots
Walking with Dinosaurs
Paranorman
Kung Fu Panda
Megamind
Turbo
Madagascar 3
Epic
Croods
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 1 and 2

Pixels
Immortals
Amazing Spider Man 2 (I saw a couple copies of this at Dollar Tree -- unexpected at my DT particularly)
47 Ronin (I don't think I'd seen this one listed before)

Reminder: Some of the Dreamworks that state "2d AND 3d" are really 3d only.

I think I may have listed this several months back when I first noticed it there. Made me hopeful that they might be getting in more 3D live action titles, but aside from the usual suspects (300 Rise, Pixels, Immortals, Pompeii, Spider-Man 2, a couple others) there hasn’t been much outside of the 3D animated shows routinely turning up (which presumably shows how poorly they sold originally, sadly).

I've seen (and bought) all of these but 47 Ronin and Warcraft. I've never seen Shrek 1, but 2-4.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Went to two different Big Lots stores locally and I couldn't find any Blu-Rays I really wanted (or didn't already have).

Both stores re-stocked a whole lot for this sale.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

While most in the store were more of whatever was there before, got these two today:
E.T Extra Terrestrial Steelbook - $4
Anthropoid -$2.40

EDIT: Also saw a mangled copy of 'Office - Season 6' which I didn't pick up. It was $5 before discount

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Went today and found a lone copy of Resident Evil: Afterlife Walmart Exclusive Steelbook for $5. I ended up buying about $16 worth of stuff so i used my $5 of $15 coupon instead of the storewide 20%,

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Picked up The Karate Kid & The Karate Kid Part II for $2.40 a piece.

I already own the DVD set of the first four films but it was a no-brainer to upgrade the first two films for that price.

It's too late this time but next time find another $3 worth of stuff. The $5 off $15 coupon stacks with the 20% off. They take 20% off first and then do the coupon. $19 @ 20% off is $15.20.

I didn't see the E.T. Steelbook - It's not a favorite (or anywhere close) but I'd have purchased it again in that format just because...
