Monday will be a good day. Good luck to everyeone else as well.
You're doing it wrong. You should brag they're paying you to take their movies while you're in Fantasyland.

The B2G1 ends the day before the 50% off sale begins. They will NOT stack, chief. Go in store and actually look at the sales fliers/signage. It's not that tough. But go ahead and dilute yourself, so you can be outraged when your tactic doesn't work.

Seriously, though, I have saved up for this one, and my brain gets swimmy when I think about the selections I've made for this thing. I will knock out all the Criterions on my wish list with one purchase. Granted, I might have to wait until the 16th for payday, just for insurance of not going under, but yeah, it looks like 12 titles will make me done in 1.

Realistically even at 50% I'll probably just be able to afford the new edition of Solaris. Would love to get Berlin Alexanderplatz but that is so out of my budget.......!

I believe in the BN thread, some have mentioned that often sales start online a day before they are scheduled to start in stores, so these 2 sales may indeed overlap -- only on 7/11.

They haven't up to now, but previous b2g1f sales ended earlier. Past sales ended about a week before the start of the Criterion sale. This is the first time both sales have come this close together.

They have recently been very careful with the Criterion sales online with the coupon exclusions. I don't see them making a mistake.

Re: Barnes and Noble 50% Off Criterion Sale 7/12

Thanks That'sallfolks thats where i had read they might overlap, even if they dont it is nice to wait and see. Also N8boss87, it obviously isnt that rediculous if they wrote about it in another thread, and what if it does happen are you going to abstain from taking part in the deal because its just too good of deal and demand you pay more?

To answer the other questions check out sites like Groupon.com and get giftcards for half off, there are a few i frequent and i do belive links are all on that website. Its so unbelievable that sites like this must be makebelieve, who would have thought you would hope for bargains in a bargain thread.

Probably, but only if he's banking on it! I remember during my first Criterion sale - which was also the first year they disallowed coupons and link stacking for the sale - there was a brief moment of a few hours where coupons and link stacking still worked! I was able to use at LEAST a 15% off coupon and a 10% off link, making the movies something under $25 for both. (The closest B&N is like 1.25 hours away, so that was my best option). In other words, sometimes online they do overlap.

As for me, I'm still wondering how getting a $120 GC for $60 is related to "sucky-suck." On the other hand, I fear the answer.

So they shipped whatever you ordered without canceling? I fear a cancellation by the crap that is bn.com since they've cancelled orders on me several times this year.

It hasn't been mentioned but I think the sale ends on 8/1.

Uh... kind of. The long story is they changed the amount they charged me to exclude the coupons, upon which I filed a claim with the BBB of NY (I think). A few weeks later I got a hand-signed apology letter from a representative of the company and the difference credited back to my account.

Re: Barnes and Noble 50% Off Criterion Sale 7/12

Assuming all the coupons that are going to be available are already out, what I'm going to do is either buy three $40 titles [40+40+40=120-50%-10%=$54] then use the $5 off $50 bringing it to $49 (+tax).

Or, buy two $40's and one $50 [40+40+50=130-50%-10%=$58.5] then use the $8 off $40 bringing it to $50.5 then use the $5 off $50 bringing it to $45.5 (+tax).

Any combination that comes close to the $130 mark will work best to use both coupons. Like a couple of Eclipse sets [60+70].

This works out to $16-$18 per regular BD disc and $23-$25 per box set.

Re: Barnes and Noble 50% Off Criterion Sale 7/12

I wish the $5 off was still available. I know I sound like Manzana here, but I've been so spoiled these past 2 years by getting Criterions in store for under $15 ($14.15 to be precise), that paying over $15 just doesn't make the sale seem that worth it. It isn't that special to get Criterion Blu-rays at $17 or so. They seem to drop to that price at random times throughout the year w/o me needing to buy a BN membership for the sale then show then return it to Barnes and Noble as I read the return policy on memberships along w/the cashier for the umpteenth time.

I'm hoping to strike during any overlap online w/theB2G1 sale if any. Not like I'll be pissed off if there is no overlap, but it would be sweet if it happens. Otherwise, I'll just pop in and probably grab an eclipse box set...if I want more than one maybe I'll consider getting a membership and all that.

Re: Barnes and Noble 50% Off Criterion Sale 7/12

Just tried to use 10% Off coupon J3M9D8K for 3 titles on the B2G1 sale and got a message saying the coupon was ineligible for that order. Called customer service and was told you can't "combine 2 coupons or offers."
Seems like if the 50% sale and B2G1 sale do overlap the chance of successfully combining them is close to nil.

What titles did you add? I just tested it with 3 in my cart and it's still working. Were there any pre-orders?

Coupon is working fine for me as I put those three titles into my cart as well. Are you sure you haven't used the code before at all? Also, this code is for non-member accounts only.

The coupon should work for all customers with or without a membership. Also these coupons that take a percentage off your entire order can be used multiple times.

False alarm. Just tried to place this order on another computer and it worked like a charm. Weird.

I just ordered those exact three titles two days ago and I already received Solaris today and the other two should be here by Monday. I read that B&N's shipping is slow, but that's not the case with this order.
