Would you mind sharing the coupon code?

Is it able to be used for online orders?

UPDATE: Sorry - just found it - but it won't work online.

Could be. Might come with special red glasses to compensate for the green tint on the first film.

Yeah, but you get a ton of extras - which have been availible on DVD for years!

Of course, I paid $68 from the WB Shop, so go figure.

Its 70 dollars, for 12 hours of film, plus extras. Even counting out the extras, you're paying about 5.8 dollars per hour. If you buy a 2 hour movie for 20 bucks, you're paying a lot more per hour. And then of course, there are hours upon hours of extras.

I don't buy any movie for 20 bucks. 14.99 is my absolute limit (and that's only stuff I REALLY want, everything else I can wait until it's even lower), regardless of length of the film or extras.

Agreed. Too many consumers buy in to the "more is more" theory. Fancy packaging is nice, and so are bonus materials, but when it comes down to it, you're still paying over $20 per movie. Even Star Wars can be had for less than $15/movie - personally, I like the $10/movie price point.

Unless you need to own them immediately, why not wait for a price drop? The more of us that avoid paying these ridiculous MSRPs, the faster the price will drop.

You must be new. People here don't pay that much for 2 movies, let alone 1.

If no one purchased any blu-ray when it was first released and just waited for it to hit rock-bottom prices then the format would die. We should thank those who pay the higher prices for keeping the format alive for us bargain hunters!

Speaking of which, I read in my most recent Official Playstation Magazine (I know, an odd source for Blu Ray reviews) that the extras are all Standard Definition. Is that for real? That's pretty inexcusable.

Most BD's that port over the same extras from previously released DVD's. But yes Decker, it's true. I was being tongue in cheek about it. So if you have the extended editions on DVD, you're paying for duplicate DVD's of the extras. I thought I read somewhere that the extras were actually filmed in HD, but I may be wrong about that. In any case, the extras are DVD only. And of course the big question was why didn't Warner's simply put the extras on a BD and have less discs. But then it looks bad to charge such a high price for so few discs.

Re: Forget LOTR Extended Edition shipping stuff...I'll do ya one better....

Yeah... That can shove it as far as I'm concerned. I already own the EE's on DVD and I'm sure as hell not paying $70 for the three movies (color timing aside) and duplicates of the extras that I still haven't watched all of...

Just release the damn things - barebones - for $10 a pop and we'll talk... I love the trilogy, but honestly, I saw them in the theater, spun the EE's twice, watched a lot of the extras. Call me when The Hobbit(s) is(are) released.
