Deal seems dead ..shows up as 80.xx at checkout. But on the Top pre-order section (on the right) it shows as 65.xx ??

That's what was confusing me. Haven't shopped DVDplanet much if ever, so not sure if this is typical.

I'm thinking about just cancelling my Amazon order and waiting until the Black Friday deals. It's not like I'll be watching it as soon as I get my hands on it so waiting 2 months won't be a big deal.

DVD Planet cancelled my order at the $61 price claiming they had trouble processing the order.

Considering the price is back up to $80 I'm guessing they chose to cancel a few of the last minute orders after they made their decision.

And yeah I'll probably also wait till Black Friday for Star Wars. I can do the same thing for LOTR and just wake up very early sitting at the Best Buy right down the street.

Yes, it looks like every couple of days, after the authorization drops off, they're putting it back on. Not sure what the points is; just do it a day or two before it ships, that's the only time it matters if funds are available.

I wonder if they're doing it on this title particularly in an attempt to cancel orders on the people that did get the $65.04 price. "Whoops, funds weren't available two months prior to the release date, we auto-cancelled your order." Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it seems possible.

I doubt it. If they don't want to honor the orders, they can just cancel them. They don't need to play games like that.

I got an email from DD today announcing a special one day deal for the Blu-ray at $82.88 not sure if that has anything to do with the preorder for 65.04.

I got a cancellation notice from them a month after I placed the order, but it still shows open on the site. If I don't get a shipping notice, they'll be getting a call tomorrow.

Got my shipping confirmation email from DD as well for $64.79. I should have it by Thursday at the latest.

John Galt: I too have received cancellation notices from DD that continue to this day to say "open" on their website and I never gotten the item. In fact, even the orders I have received still say "open" instead of closed. I hate to say it but I don't think they're shipping a set to you. I hope they do, but from my experience with the same situation, they won't.

I received a shipping e-mail today, too, for the $65 price.

They kept the order open and I never received a cancellation notice.

Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that DD ships it something sturdier than a bubble mailer and it doesn't arrive with the shit beat out of it.

I had decided not to buy it after seeing the changes that were made. I had a preorder in at Amazon, cancelled that one. I thought I had ordered it somewhere for the $65 price, but I checked DD and there was no order for it there. Completely forgot about DVDPlanet, so imagine my surprise when I got a shipping notice for it today.

DVD Planet shipped mine also, but I got socked with CA sales tax even though all the DVD Planet physical stores are now out of business. So my total with taxes ended up at $70.41.
