This turned out to be a pretty good sale for some of the niche titles that had been on my wish list for a few years, as well as on some Kino and Criterion titles. I wasn't planning to get anything when the sale started, but I ended up spending nearly $500. And now next month's B&N sale is ruined, since I picked up all but four or five of the titles I'd been planning to get then.

Whew! I spent like this for nearly 10 years. Nowadays I find it very easy to resist these sales.

There were a few DD sales in the past when I spent almost double that amount...

This time around, there were only a few types of (mostly niche) titles that I found irresistible: I've been working my way through the films on this list for a while, and so the First Run East German titles were hard to resist - especially since they almost never go on sale, and were almost 70% off on the site. And I already had $300 set aside for July's B&N Criterion sale - this just means that I won't be ordering much of anything next month.

In spite of the large amount, the past five or six years I've actually been able to stay within my preset budget (and I've always had a strict rule of not going into credit card debt), so I don't feel too badly about occasional splurges like this. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I don't have a wife.

Nowadays I even watch most of the movies I buy, so that's always nice.

Anybody receive any of their recent orders yet? I place mine last week and Google Checkout sent me a USPS tracking number, but it doesn't work (and I tried searching through DHL, too).

Sorry to hear about the cancellation. I placed 3 individual orders for items, haven't received anything yet:

First order- credit card has a pending charge
Second order- received shipping notice email with DHL link (link didn't have tracking info). My cc was charged.
Third order- cc showed a pending charge, which disappeared. Now there is a second pending charge.

On the DDD Order History page, all three orders still show as Open.
