Possibly nothing decent at all, but figured I'd point it out in case anyone wanted to check it out.

They aren't revealing the prices until midnight, and it is all types of items, not just blu-rays.

Right now, they are listing 40 different $7.99 BD titles, so perhaps they'll all be $5.99 at midnight.

Update: Amazon with a preemptive pricematch. All titles $6 at Amazon.

Most of the current prices are OK but not too special, as around half of these titles are currently on the $8 Blu-Ray display at Wal-Mart.

If they drop to $5.99, as you suggest, I may break down and buy Scream and Event Horizon, amongst others.

If they do something like 3.99 or 4.99 I'd probably bite on a few titles. There's nothing in that list I really need to have.

I'll definitely have to check it out. I recently bought the Scream titles, so will re-buy them if they are less than 7.99... Not sure about the other titles. Depends on how low they go...

That's funny. I see 5 or 10 I might pick up. Might stick with BB since I get RZ points, free shipping, and have a few gift cards around here somewhere.

1. There are pan & scan Blu-rays?!? Really?!? Return of the Living Dead was released as a flipper DVD, but it was open matte, not P&S. There's more nudity in the open matte version.

B. Lovely. I've bought four of those at $8 at Beast Buy already and opened two. It's too late to return Casino, but I'll rebuy the others.

EDIT: It appears they've changed the graphics on Event Horizon. Is that a different SKU meaning no return?

A. No; they are just incorrect listings or contain both aspect ratios.

2. Buy the opened ones again and return the unopened copies.

As I said, I'll rebuy the others. I got a price adjust the other day on Casino from the $10 I paid to the $8 it was, but it was like day 29 or 30 of the return window. I opened Event Horizon (see note about new cover), but still have Resident Evil and Natural Born Killers sealed. I also have a still sealed Scream from Costco.

Now I'm getting paranoid about the covers. Here are the covers of NBK - the Blu-ray.com art on left, the Amazon one on right:

Its raining here in the tri-state area and since Amazon PM with no tax and no gas wasted getting there, it seems like a win win to me for Amazon. ;)

Yeah, Amazon wins for me as well. I'm certainly not waiting until midnight during the week for a sale. I think I'll probably pick up Caddyshack, Major League and House of Flying Daggers.

Well, BB might see that Amazon is doing this, and hopefully will try to beat them. So even if BB was planning on $5.99, maybe now they'll do $4.99 in order to win.

This is why I've got everything in my cart, but not actually buying until we see what Beast Buy prices at. Just my luck to buy at $6 and have BB do $5.

According to DVDpricesearch.com, The Thomas Crown Affair seems to have two different releases of the BD (plus a 3rd release of the BD with a DVD). The strange thing is, both BB and Amazon list the Midnight Sale release as 1.33:1 (well, BB says Pan & Scan but lists 2.35:1). B&N has a P&S version listed as well. The sale one is from 1/4/2011. The BD/DVD combo is from 4/6/2010. I'm not sure if there truly is a 3rd release or not. But seeing as 3 sources says it is not Widescreen, I'm skeptical to buy this. I know it doesn't make sense to have a Pan & Scan BD. Does anyone own it?

Agreed. And with Prime I'll probably have them by tomorrow! (I know Prime is two-day but I've been averaging just over 26-30 hours from time of order to time of delivery. Unbelievable :thumbsup: )

Just checked the DVD Talk review; the reviewer apparently had the combo pack since that's what is mentioned in the text. The review says the movie on the BD is in scope ratio.

Amazon is often wrong with their aspect ratio listings. I'm at the point where I usually ignore them.

Unless youre not paying tax on $5, it doesnt really seem worth it to wait IMO, especially if youre banking on "luck." I know its your money and all, but IJS..

FYI.. some of the movies are out of stock @ Amazon until June. Of course, you can still buy them, but you wont get them in the next couple of days.

Deep Blue Sea, Major League and Bad Boys are all not shipping until next week, at the earliest.
