I got a message that they were sold out from my selected merchant and saved on the sidelines of my cart. They were still available at 8:30 am EST. Oh well. I'm just hoping that RE and NBK don't sell out. I'll hold off on returning them until it ships. They're looking at a couple of week out estimated delivery dates.

Yay for Amazon undercutting BB once again! I heard the reason BB and Target advertise so few movies in their ads lately is to make it more difficult for Amazon to pricematch them, but I like to hope that Amazon will check their prices and do it anyway.

It's a no brainer at $6 unless you already own the DVDs of both movies... then is it worth $6 to upgrade? That's always the question I struggle with for each movie. For Casino (where I also have the HD-DVD) I upgraded, but I'll pass on upgrading Major League at $6. In fact, most of these titles would be no-brainers if I didn't already own them in some format. Makes me regret getting all 3 Resident Evils for $7.99 a while ago. I think I need to lower my BD price point further.

BTW, where do you ditch the HD-DVDs? To the plastic circular file I assume since their resale value on eBay or trade-in value to FYE would be near $0.

Why ditch them? While some movies got improved in their trip to the Blu World from the Red Planet (e.g. Transformers), many titles use the same encodes for both flavors (e.g. Blade Runner, 2001) or actually had more options in HD DVD (e.g. 300, Phantom of the Opera has TrueHD audio) because the format shipped complete and not gimped like Blu-ray did with three incremental profiles. I'm not rebuying stuff I already have on HD DVD unless there's a big boost in quality.

It kinda sucked they don't allow you to backorder titles. They advertised the sale as ending at Midnight, so they should really stick to that. I'm glad I ordered Misery last night... Event Horizon is such a great flick, I hope it comes back, for your sake...

You're welcome! Most of those were at the BBV $4 pricepoint, which is apparently my 'can't resist' pricepoint. I think I bought about one out of every 10 titles I saw, which I obviously could not afford to do forever.

I haven't been buying much the last 6 months, and feel like I was a rubberband or something, stretched to my non-buying breaking point. I've snapped back with a vengeance.

Placed an order for 10 titles to be picked up in-store shortly after midnight today.

I had actually purchased 4 of them two weeks ago for $8 each, so I will be returning the 4 I purchased for $32 and picking up 10 for $60.

At $6, I decided to finally pick up Birdemic ... and even though I am highly intrigued, I still couldn't pull the trigger on Human Centipede for $6.

Now, I knew there was a reason I let my in-store pickup order (from the beginning of the month) expire... I'd much rather pay $6 (minus my Target discount from buying Amazon gift cards at work) than have to pay $7.99 for the same movies (plus tax).

I bought a good # of titles and I'm sending two of my friends copies of 'Birdemic' because we watched it together and unanimously agreed that it's <STRIKE>a good flick</STRIKE> the best flick for drinkin' and laughin'.

Just so it's clear: Misery and Event Horizon are back available to order.

I redid my order and added EH. Thank goodness they drag their feet with FSS.

I thought about Birdemic, only because everyone else seems to be buying it, but it got a 2.0 on IMDB and almost universally hated (except for the first review). I decided 6.00 was way too much for a blind buy of this caliber.

Birdemic is a The Room quality tragedy of modern cinema, but I wouldn't recommend watching it without Mike Nelson, Bill Corbet and Kevin Murphy's rifftrax. Even dreck that is so bad it's humorous has its lengthy dull moments, and sometimes only the boys at Rifftrax can pull you through it. Together they make the $10 (price for both) worth it.

Incidentally, I traded in my DVD copy for $7 credit at Amazon for this upgrade.

By ditch them I meant hopefully sell them, but I doubt HD-DVDs would get more than a couple bucks on eBay if one is lucky. I wouldn't just throw mine in the trash. I was just asking the poster where he was ditching his HD-DVDs in case he knew of somewhere better than eBay's $1-2 bucks. I'd see little point keeping a HD-DVD if everything were identical with the BD, but as there are often differences, I might as well keep them since HD-DVDs are worth so little.

I'll pass on unloading my HD-DVD collection because I assume I'd get too little for it. I'm actually surprised you offered this to me since you're a member of MAC(tm) (Manzana Attackers Club). :-) But thanks for the offer.

So if a Blu-ray is no different than an HD DVD, you'll still spend the money to replace it and then hang on to the HD DVD rather than accept a few bucks for the now-redundant copy? Hokay. Suit yourself.

Thanks to the OP for posting this. Was able to place a big order last night with a few minutes to spare. Most if not all of them won't be shipping for 9-13 days but I'm in no hurry to get them.
