Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)
Yeah, I’m not liking this new sale much either. A ton of the newer ones (Transformers 3, Black Swan, X Men First Class, Thor, Narnia 3, etc) were still $16.99. Everything else was $9.99. Nothing in between. But I did manage to find some good ones. Picked up Disney’s Earth, Alice in Wonderland, Pirates 4 (in an actual blu ray case with artwork), Horrible Bosses and Shift 2 (360). Horrible Bosses is actually the unrated version with the correct artwork and disc. Wanted to pick up Green Lantern, but they cut the back part of the artwork off for some reason. Hopefully they do bring back the 5 for $20 sale though. I was OK with $4 per movie before, but $6 for a rental version is cutting it close.

Yep, I asked a BB employee the same thing on Tue. She siad 5/$20 was going away. My question is, when the DVD/BR sale is off, what will be advertised?
2/$20 and 4/$20. Just a guess.

It seems weird that Blockbuster would do all this promotion and then have a worse deal on Blu-Rays. It was better to get the $9.99 and under Blu Rays for $4 each rather than $6. There are only a handful of $12.99 titles and most of the good titles are $16.99. This is supposed to be their "Blue Friday" celebration. From what I have seen they are doing a great job of promoting this, but a bad job as far as pricing on Blus. Oh well, I was running out of titles I needed anyway.
I have to assume either they were selling too many BDs in the 5 for $20 and thought they could jack the prices up a little and get away with it or maybe they're just testing the waters to see how people react. I think they'll find having dropped the 5 for $20 that their used BDs sales will decline quite a bit. I had a tough time at $4 each, and now with so many barebones RENTAL versions everywhere, it'll be extremely tough for me to find 5 non-RENTAL titles worth $6 each to me.
I'm not going to make a special trip, but if I happen to go by a Blockbuster tomorrow, I'll swing by but I'll be looking for games over BDs. Of course any of the good games will be gone today and I just don't feel like being out shopping on Saturday after a week of hellwork.

This 5/$30 used pricing is pretty darn blah in regards to Blu-rays, but it's exquisite for games. Spotted Dead Space 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Fallout: New Vegas, and a bunch of others that you can net for $6 a game.
The 5 for $40 NEW pricing on Blu-rays and DVDs, however, works out extremely well. Walked out with Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3 (the multi-pack), Red: Special Edition, Watchmen, and Lost: Season One on DVD at that price.

If I had known they would have brand new TV season sets on BD this cheap, then I would have gone. I had no reason to think this because I've only seen BD movies for under $14.99 there... never once a BD TV season. All the good stuff is probably long gone by now.

Like others have said, it's a pretty good deal on the TV season sets. I was thinking about picking up the complete series of Lost for $30, but it was DVD and I really wanted the Blu version. They also had sets of Prison Break, Arrested Development and a bunch of HBO series (BOB, Pacific, True Blood, Entourage, Deadwood)

OK. I still need someone to spell it out for me: are all these 5 for $40 BD TV sets new or used? New it's an awesome deal. Used it's a decent deal. Also, if anyone finds out from the store if this deal will be going on Monday, that would helpful. I've heard both that it ends Sunday and ends Monday.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)
Thanks for the clarification! It's still a decent deal for used DVDs, but now as exciting as new BDs as I originally thought. Now I don't feel like I've got to hurry over there today. I'll most likely call them tonight or Monday morning to see if the deal is still going on then and swing by at my convenience. I'm still mainly interested in games, but reading SD it sounds like a lot of the Amazon game flippers already struck most Blockbusters on Saturday. It's just not worth competing with them when I already have so many games and little time to play them.

at the BBV I was at earlier this afternoon, the sale is still on, and 5/$39.99 is the new movie price. Got:

clash of titans
shrek 4
cloudy w/chance of meatballs
alice in wonderland
may still go back and snag narnia 1-3, and TS 1-2.

the used blu bundle deals of 5/$29.99 or 3/$19.99 were still available when I was there today. As many have said....passed on those, since everything from that bunch I wanted was snagged during the now gone 5/$20 used blu bundle deal.

I thought it was 5 for $40 on new titles $12.99 or less? I guess I was wrong.

It was always...
3 for $25 or 5 for $40 on NEW dvds/blu-rays $12.99 or less
3 for $20 or 5 for $30 on USED dvds/blu-rays/games $14.99 or less
The sale is good through the end of the year.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)
For the week of Black Friday I was handed a flyer that was 3 for $20 on 12.99 and under...and 5 for $30 on 12.99 and under. Oh well....not going there anyway...who knows what it is now.
