Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Now that Blockbuster stores are starting to open on the east coast, has anyone gone to a store and confirmed the sale is going on and which are the new titles (besides Kick Ass and Robin Hood (2010) mentioned above)?

Robin Hood (2010) for $4 would be OK for me if I could find 4 other titles I want, and assuming the sale is nationwide and not just at certain stores. That way I could return my unopened $10 combo pack from Target.

I'll be calling my store when they open to see what they say. Considering it'll be mostly the same stuff as the last sale, I'd be lucky to find 5 new titles I want.

If your store had the sale last time, they are having the sale this time.

I added several new titles to the OP.

Anyone find out when the sale ends this time around? July 4th or next weekend?

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Went to two near me this morning. Neither had a lot of copies of the new titles added (on average 1-3 copies of each, although a few had more). It seemed they had renewed stock of the titles that were carried over from the last sale (these copies were not out when I had checked earlier this week).

Anyway, picked up these from the new titles available:
Book of Eli
Chloe
Clash of the Titans (original)
Cop Out
Date Night
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Losers
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Under the Sea 3D (was not the 3D version, just the regular, YMMV)

picked up these from the first sale that were out of stock during that sale:
Observe and Report
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Jumper
Terminator Salvation

may go back this afternoon and grab:
Get Him to the Greek
Knight and Day
Marmaduke
A Nightmare on Elm Street (remake)
Santa Buddies

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I can confirm that there will be a $.99 sale going on again this weekend. I stopped by a local store on my lunch break and couldnt find a single 5 for $20 title I wanted. They did have a table of $5.99 blu-rays and the girl said they would be marking them down each day just like they did for Memorial Day. Before some of you cream your pants, it was a pretty lousy selection and looked like it was just the leftovers from Memorial Day.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I scored:

Kick Ass
Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
Return of the King
Silence of the Lambs
How to Train Your Dragon
The Losers (Rental)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Robin Hood (2010 - Rental).
Edge of Darkness (in original blu-ray case)

Also, as I was leaving a UPS driver was delivering a bunch of boxes. I'll have to check back throughout the weekend (after I consult my bank account....).

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Picked up
All 3 Lord of the Rings
Chloe
Layer Cake
National Treasure 2
The Song Remains the Same
Gods & Generals
Fool's Gold
Drillbit Taylor

I saw several copies of The Social Network marked @ $9.99. I also saw The Pacific (Disc 1 only). If it would have been a little more complete, I would've jumped on it. Also saw one random disc from Band of Brothers but I already have the series.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I was just at the Blockbuster in Highland Pk. (St. Paul) and they had a 99 cent table. I picked up Californication S1, Brooklyn's Finest, Flight of the Phoenix (remake), Cold Souls, A Single Man. Dozens of other movie titles & single disks from several TV shows. Worth a look if you're in the neighborhood.

Anyone in Seattle know of a good store? Everyone I've been to has no selection of Blus or games. The Lake City Way one was the best one last time.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I hate these sales. They make me buy more movies than I really need! 8^)

Princess & the Frog
Hot Tub Time Machine
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Cop Out
Gods and Generals
The Last Station
How to Train Your Dragon
Harry Brown
Coraline
9
Pursuit of Happyness
Poltergeist
JFK
Hoosiers
Alien vs Predator

And my best score - all six discs from 'Band of Brothers' (in five cases, so it was $20 total).

I picked up:

-Toy Story 2
-Toy Story 3 (first disc only, bummer)
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
-The Kids Are All Right
-Zombieland

Now I'm on the hunt for the other two Stieg Larsson movies as well as Toy Story.

Picked Up:
LotR Trilogy
Harry Brown
Troy
Where the Wild Things Are
Robin Hood
Edge of Darkness
The Kids Are All Right
Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Fantastic Mr Fox

They also had The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest but it rang up 16.99. I've read reports of other people finding it for $9.99, but it wasn't so for me.

No kidding. All I really wanted was the Toy Story movies. I picked up 1 and 3 along with 8 others. Then I finally found 2 and grabbed 4 more. So it's easier to think I spent $60 on the Toy Story trilogy and got 12 more for free

Prince of Persia

Toy Story 3

Pays to ask for help if you think the BDs are marked at the wrong price. I asked the workers at my local BB if their prices were the same as everyone else's and they said "Yes." Had them scan a few titles (the ones mentioned in this thread) and all showed up at $9.99. While I was there, the BB employees printed out a new price list and re-stickered all of the incorrectly priced titles.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I picked up the following ones today there.

Date Night (It's a rental exclusive, but it only has the theatrical version and not extended, that kinda bummed me out. didn't take notice til i got home a while ago.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Knight and Day
Toy Story 3
Prince of Persia
Taken
Grown Ups
Marley and Me
Splice
How to Train your dragon. (It was marked as 12.99, but asked them to scan it and it came up 9.99. And the guy said that was weird that it was mos marked.

I asked the manager if they would be having any other sales just on July 4th and he said no they aren't. just this deal going on. It ends the 4th of July. Or atleast it said that everywhere.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Only picked up 5 discs today:

Date Night
Taken
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Knight and Day
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

Was hoping to get Dinner For Schmucks, but it was still marked above $9.99. The Champlain/Perrin store still had the LOTR trilogy, a couple Toy Story's, and Wall-E, if anyone is hunting for them.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I was a little ticked that I had forgot about Robin Hood when i was there, so i went back to check, and they had one. Grabbed that and:

The Girl Who Played with Fire
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Jonah Hex
Knight and Day

I wish I had known The Social Network was $9.99 at other stores, it was marked $16.99 at mine, so I didn't bother having them scan it
