Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I bought 100 empty cases off of eBay for $36 shipped. They should arrive tomorrow, so I can post whether they are decent or not. Seller was 'ess2shop', and seems to be pretty reliable (6500+ ratings, same-day shipment with tracking info).

If you're a stickler for "official" Blu-ray cases that Warner Brothers used, I highly recommend the Viva Elite cases offered at DiscMakers (http://www.discmakers.com/shop/ItemD...D=BDR025-00001). I ordered 100 cases from them on Monday 5/30 after my final haul at Blockbuster and I received them on Thursday 6/2. $0.43 per case after shipping. They have the silver "BD" logo and are engraved with the official Viva Elite logo in the inside corner.

Some of the others mentioned here look nice but I can't tell if the logo's are silver and that is important to me. I have also ordered from CaseTopia through their eBay store (http://stores.ebay.com/Casetopia/Blu...=p4634.c0.m322) and they have the various "official" cases seperated by studio and I have ordered from them in the past. I tried DiscMakers this past time because the price was better at the quantities I wanted, but CaseTopia was great for me a few times in the past. If you want to mix and match smaller quantities by studio and number of discs then CaseTopia is a great option.

FYI:
The cases that I linked to do not have the silver BR logo.

The ones I got from super media store also did not have silver on the logo. As long as it holds the disc, its alright by me.

May try a final stop tomorrow since its last day of "sale".

I picked up another 5 bringing my total to 20.
Max Payne
Fools Gold
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
Push

Have ordered these single and double cases from discmakers. They are better than most of the retail cases. Absolutely perfect.

Just bought 25 single Elites and 25 dbl Elites recently for 31.75 shipped. Needed some for the ones I purchased @ BBV and to replace some eco-cases. I hated that you had to purchase a min. of 25, but I will eventually use them all. Other than that, totally satisfied with my order.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Hit two out-of-town stores & found some cool titles:

Tinker Bell & The Lost Treasure
Clerks II
Zombieland
The Heartbreak Kid
Scott Pilgrim
Natural Born Killers
RocknRolla
Dogma
The Spirit
Eagle Eye

Some of those are for trade. I have a list on the trade forum. Also picked up a Gandhi poster, Alton Brown book, and two documentaries on DVD for $2 (Anvil & Overnight). Very happy I was able to buy some great titles, but the husband is even happier this sale is over. Spent a wee bit more than expected

^ Don't know if Anvil was a blind buy for you or not, but it one of my absolute favorite documentaries. Would be my favorite for sure if "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" didn't exist. Either way, good score for a buck!

Yeah, Anvil is pretty incredible. I saw it at the Belcourt when it first came out and just loved it. Sadly, I missed the show with the Q&A/concert by just a few days.

The irony of Anvil is that they're finally getting some attention and audience because someone made a movie about how they didn't have attention or audience. They're more successful now because they weren't successful then. Huh?

Totally agree. I saw it a while back and really enjoyed it. Very happy to pick that up for $1.

Did they finally knock Hot Tub Time Machine down to $9.99? I went to a store today while I was visiting family in Virginia and they had so many discs marked at the wrong price I had the girl scan like a dozen of them and forgot to ask about that one.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I drove 40 miles to shop at the only Blockbuster around only to find they had returned to the 4/$20 & 2/$20 price point. Most of the P/V BDs were re-marked to $12.99 or 2/$20. The signs indicating 5/$20 on P/V DVD & BDs were on the door when I walked in but when I walked out they weren't.

Took a chance and took 5 $9.99 titles to the register to see if they still ring up as 5/$20 but they didn't. Even though it was only $1 more per title I didn't buy any of them.

Wow, the cousin made out like a bandit! Good scores there. Thanks for sharing! I know Seven Years In Tibet was one that wasn't seen much.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

If they included some of the higher priced blu's (eg. $12.99, $16.99) at the 4 for $20, I may bite at that.

Called around to a couple stores today & they said the 5/$20 was extended another week. I'll stop by one of the stores tomorrow & check it out.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I stopped at a store on Monday and they were still running 5/$20 but all the stuff that had been 99 cents was sporting signs offering $14.99 titles for $5.99. It didn't seem to apply to all $15 titles and I didn't really want to ask since I'd already extracted what I wanted.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I called yesterday to hear that "some" of the DVDs will still be $0.99 yet all of the Blu-Ray from this sale are now $5.99... but they did say they have dropped the price on many other titles making them available for the 5/$20 sale.. haven't gone to look yet...

So, how did those work out?

I was in a store last night and they were still running 5/$20. Nothing new that I noticed, but I wasn't really shopping hard; just happened to be walking by.

BTW, I don't know if any Ferengi looted stores around here to flip, but if they did they aren't selling on Craig's List that I can tell. I have an autosearch for Blu-rays on my Android app and nothing that was part of this sale has come up after the past couple of weeks. Can't see why anyone would let them ferment, so either no flippers took part, just collection builders, or they're selling them elsewhere.

Are they doing another 99 cent bluray sale on fathers day?
