I do like that the HEAVY METAL cover retains more of the original artwork, so that the background environment behind Taarna and the bird is restored, in contrast to the re-release artwork which had a metallic backdrop behind Taarna and the bird.

Sadly I haven't seen the original and I guess I'm a little biased because I think Chloe Moretz is an amazing actress. But I've heard from alot of people that have seen both that it's a very well done remake but it doesn't add a whole lot. The performances are the main draw of the movie.

According to someone who got the Heavy Metal BR already it isn't porting over all of the extras from the Collector's Edition DVD so while I'll double check for myself it sounds like I might pass on it.
