Thanks OP!

Left two in Bloomington, MN (on a bottom shelf in the video game section). Went across the street to Best Buy to see the same model for $179.99 / $149.99 on sale, and had to laugh.

Now, just have to find a way to explain to the other half, why we needed a third Blu player....

I checked the store locator and one store by my house had it in stock. I called them if they can hold it for me. She checked it and she said it rang up as $139.99.

She didn't scan it. The shelf tag reads $139.99. However, an additional $60 will be taken off at the register and the final cost will be $79.99.

Well that was a waste of time. Online says my local store has them in stock. Went to the store and they don't even carry Blu-Ray players. I guess the moral of the story is to call first and don't trust what the website says.

I'm sure you can find more if you want them. In general, Sony makes solid BD players so if this model has the features you want it will likely perform well.

Since this is last year's model it is OOP; Sony will have a new one in a few weeks/months. Perhaps at a lower MSRP but at a higher street price for awhile.

No WiFi is a big inconvenience in the age of firmware updates, even if you don't care about BD-Live.

My Sylvania player I got almost two years ago doesn't have internet access at all, and I've never updated the firmware, and it's played every BD I've put in it flawlessly. *Shrug*

Checked a nearby TRU yesterday and there was nice-sized sale tag on the shelf advertising the $79.99 price. They were out of stock. The sales associate said they might get more in (she didn't sound too confident). According to the sale tag, the price is good thru 1/29.

At my store, a guy scanned it, and it came up $129 ($60 off the original $189 price).

Found one at a store in Bowling Green, KY a few days ago and no sale price at all, either on the shelf or ringing up at the register. So forget what I mentioned earlier about the sale going thru the 29th. Sounds very much YMMV.
