A good time to look for this is shortly after amazon's price drops on a title of interest. Good deals can be had at other times, but often seller prices adjust after a price drop, presumably to try to compete.

Example, I just got Pride and Prejudice for $10.28 from a third party. Less than a buck difference from amazon's price, but it was from one of those "fulfilled by amazon" vendors, so it's Prime-eligible and I don't have to pay the $2.98 shipping charge.

Sometimes even with the shipping charge, the third parties still work out cheaper.

The two-disc is on sale for $19.99.

Interestingly, I just checked for the current price on the TC box set and amazon doesn't have it anymore...only through third party sellers. I know that set was a limited pressing, I believe 100,000 copies. Maybe amazon sold through their allotment and isn't getting more?

I think they pulled it because something is wrong with it. Earlier it said..

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is
not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be
something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or
the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Ah, the dreaded "Item Under Review." Haven't seen that in a while. Hopefully it will be back then.

They had to ship me 3 copies of Sound of Music box set. Each box was bent and the music box had issues. The 3rd one, pack the very same way as the other two came fine.

This is why I keep seeing those ads on the Internet for that separate IPad keyboard and I know I'm buying at that some point for my next out of town trip.

Yeah, for a moment I thought, "How did I miss the release of all these Capra films on BD??? I read press releases obsessively...how did they slip this by me?"

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

posted this in the HD Disney thread but I'm doing it here as well cuz it's a deal and one you must pick up on cuz of the info involved...

I just got an email from Disney Movie Rewards. In this email it mentioned this:

on April 24, 2011...Pinocchio, Snow White, and Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 will go back into that damn vault of theirs.

Coincidentally Amazon has a sale on Disney BD combo packs and here's the link

Order Three Disney Combo Packs and Save

Save $20 when you order three eligible Disney Combo Pack titles below. This offer is valid through April 23, 2011. Applies only to products sold by Amazon.com. Does not apply to products sold by third-party merchants and other sellers through the Amazon.com site. Additional restrictions apply
So it's $59.97 for Fantasia/Fantasia 2000, Snow White, and Pinocchio...not a bad deal considering that those damn flicks are always at least $23.99 on a good day.

Which is why you should've bought them on release day with the disney coupon, they were all $10-16.

I never understand this. Do they really pull all the copies of this off retail? or just stop selling them to the retail market place?

When I worked at Best Buy, we would get e-mails to pull every copy off the floor and send them back to the sender.

I finally picked up Fantasia, Bambi, and Tangled, for $60.97 already have Pinocchio and Snow White

Really? I always assumed they just quit pressing/shipping and let what was out there languish on the shelves until they were gone.

Not really a big deal this time around if you have kept up on all the deals. Everyone should already own all these through various deals.

My copy of The Losers arrived with no security tape, just shrink wrapped, but was otherwise normal. Anyone know why amazon might ship a new Blu ray wthout security tape?

Maybe it's hard for anyone to cut the tape and take the disc when its shipped and not in a person hands?

Yeah, I would assume that they were giving retailers an incentive to stock up.

The vault isn't what it used to be considering the online used market. Didn't have anything like that in the VHS days.
