This seems to be it. They appear to be defaulting to the cheapest in-stock items. When their own stock is depleted, they go to a marketplace vendor. This practice has been going on for a little while now.

It's still available from them for $24.99, but it's backordered. The $24.99 listing is under the alternative buying options, where it says "New."

^ Me too, and it's not the 1st time either that Amazon has doubled up the refund for me
I can live with $11.99 for a 4-disc BD combo pack Disney new release.

Wow! Two Tangled threads on the front page and a lot of talk about it here and in the Target and Best Buy threads. I never would have thought that movie would be so popular here.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

I thought it was really good.. maybe I got hyped by the concept of it being sold out everywhere.. to which I thought it was a masterpiece... then it just ended up being less than that....

remember dissapointment is just un-met expectation...

and I really enjoyed one of the theatrical trailers, which had much content that wasn't in the movie, where
Spoiler:
the hair seemed almost alive... causing flyn to hit himself, etc.. when he first got into the tower... where it throws him out the window in the chair... yet the movie just showed her hit him with the pan.... also the part where the hair drops down on him and max the horse laughs.. etc..
which this content was not in deleted scenes ..... and those theatrical trailers were not on the disc either... I did enjoy the teaser commercial shorts.. that were basically themed from the movie but not real...

Well they did scrap 3 years of work and started over, but still had all that at their disposal for promotional stuff.

Much of the tower stuff from here wasn't there.

I assume they wanted to make her hair less "alive"...

The idea of living hair is creepy. Glad they changed that.
I really enjoyed Tangled and it was nice to get such a good deal on it. Did they really scrap 3 years of work? Wow. Now that's impressive.

I might be (probably ) wrong on that. I know they went through some production hiccups though.

*edit - you know, I'm probably thinking of TinkerBell.

Then you must have skipped the Marvel Comics that contained the character Medusa...

Back on topic (well sort of)... I do wish they would have included the trailer on the disc... cause I enjoy how she treats him when he enterst the tower.. I remember seeing that as a trailer in the theater and all the kids in the theater were cracking up...

No, you're completely right. That's why the production costs were so high - they basically made a movie and a half, and they had to invent the technology they used to create the finished product. That said, the original version was so different, I doubt they used any of it in the trailers - the living hair stuff was either created for the trailer, or it was simply cut from the final film.

Same here. I was going to order it from Family Video for $16.99, but this will save me a buck. Plus, I'll get it on release date.
