Yeah, Planet Earth was $24.99 for what a few hours? That sucks, Amazon.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)
Planet Earth is still $25. I ordered it three minutes ago. As someone already posted, you have to click on "New, Used" to find Amazon's actual listing. Weird, but there it is.

Does anyone know if the Region 2 UK Planet Earth Blu-ray is region free? They have 2 versions there, a regular and a special edition. The regular Edition would be around $20 and the Special Edition around $27 on Amazon UK.
The special Edition contains: All episodes from the original series, the Planet Earth team's video diaries, a breathtaking highlights package of the series' greatest moments and superb bonus extras including two spectacular full-length Natural World films. |

Is there any reason to not buy the UK copy over the domestic copy? I saw that it has an extra disc with some great film on it. Is the packaging the same size as the typical BD set packaging?

The Blu-Ray single disc is the same as this one. Only your not paying for a useless disc (the code is dead). I have both and other then the sound its the same (only on one disc).
You're wrong the dvd of this movie is not the same as the blu. Why would you even say that. |

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)
Be careful with buying the UK Blu-rays of Planet Earth. According to reviews at amazon.co.uk., the Special Edition version (six discs) is all regions but is 1080i50fps format, which all region A players may not be able to handle. Also, I can't find the reference right now, but I believe the sixth disc in that set is a not a BD but a PAL DVD, not NTSC. Maybe someone who has it can confirm.
The original UK version of Planet Earth (five discs) should be five all-region BDs and is 1080p24fps, which a region A player should play without difficulty. That's the one I'd choose if going the UK route. |

Almost bit, but limiting myself to $10 for most titles. Will wait for this one to drop again. |

True Romance is also a DVD2blu.com title. They are currently running the "trade in any DVD" promotion. If you happen to have some crap titles or promo DVDs lying around, you could send one in and get it for $4.95 + shipping (which is $4.95 per order, or free if you spend at least $35).
Thank you! |

Had no idea. Just picked up that and seven other titles for $46.76 shipped. Not too shabby (a shade more than $5) for a bunch of discs I had in my Amazon cart that ran upwards of $12 each.
Thank you! Spoiler:
