Seriously? Wow. Brian Henson was quoted as saying such a release was years away -- that it would require updating all the effects and cost several thousand per episode. I'll be anxiously await some review on this thing.

Speculation in this thread is that it will have to be a plain upconvert for most of the footage because the visual effects were done in SD and it wouldn't make financial sense to re-do them all. Nevertheless, a BD release would be more compact that the current DVD releases. My ADV DVDs take more than a foot of shelf space.

Yeah, I would love Farscape on bluray but I simply can not believe they kept it quiet this long and yet somehow have the entire series on bluray. and for a fraction of the cost of the dvds. Hell I paid that much for one season of the dvds.

Damn, now to decide whether or not to keep my Farscape DVD's, or unload them now while they may sell better... I don't want to lose out on any special features. Not sure how complete this BD set will be...

Anyone who bought Farscape before the last couple years would have paid a pretty penny for the ADV releases, especially in that limbo period when they were all out of print. I have the A&E set but also a number of the Starburst sets that I'm reluctant to give up just yet because I've heard they have additional bonus features.

A warning on the Hero deal. It looks like that disc is English/French/Spanish only, no Mandarin. For me that would ruin the movie.

I remember the Starburst season sets going for well over a hundred (maybe as much as $200), and some of the individual Starburst volumes going for around $50. I parted with mine at that point, certain in the knowledge that I could buy it again at some future point.

I looked on blu-ray.com and they show it having the Mandarin as well. At least all of the Hero blus released to date by the same company had it. I'd be surprised if they dropped it for this release.

If you look at the comments on the the reviews you'll see that someone confirms that this particular release does not have Mandarin. And this agrees with the technical details amazon provides for that version. So I think that's why it's about half the price of the other version amazon is selling.

Seems tempting. But I just bought the first Matrix Digibook version. Plus I think I've only seen bits and pieces of the second and never even saw the third one.

They used to retail for $150 when they first came out. I bought one or two seasons at that price, but I used credit at Suncoast so it wasn't really money out of pocket... To me, it was worth it. I absolutely love Farscape. One of the best sci-fi shows ever, IMO.

The version of Hero I got at Best Buy for $7.99 (in-store) has the original Mandarin audio track.

If you're not opposed to importing, I would go for the UK version of that set. I have hardly imported anything, but I made sure to do so with this set. The reason why is that in the U.S., it had two different bonus discs: one from Amazon, which may or may not be available still (and probably isn't the version that's on sale), and I think the other one was from Target. The UK set includes all of the features from both of the two bonus discs. It's also cheaper I think.

Wow. I didn't realize that. I think I was given the version with the Amazon bonus disc for Christmas. I might have to look into importing the UK version. I guess it's not region coded ...
