Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

I've never heard of DVD-Basen but it looks like a handy site.

Was thinking of getting Shoot 'Em Up since the transfer is supposed to be pretty good but opted out before finalizing my order. Went with Bad Boys (if that's any better by much), Misery, Return of the Living Dead, Rambo (just to complete my collection even if it's not the Extended version but supposedly the extras in this version is better) and Terminator 3 (hopefully it's the 1080p version and not the old 1080i version with the crappy video).

Bummed that I missed out on Event Horizon yet again.

In the long run buying the TV shows on disc is far cheaper. For years I would do that and still do (my GF pays for the dish). I'm with the person that has a $20 top limit. I cannot think of any show I need now.

On Amazon deals the DOTD really is not much of a deal unless you miss it back in Nov/Dec 2010. Save $1.00 over there low time low.

They do however not give you points when using a Gift Card.

I removed all the other non-point earners in that quote.

The question I was posing to kenbenobi was if he was getting RZ points when using a BB GC to buy an Amazon GC...

Which hopefully he replies soon.. cause I am sure when you covert your BB GC to Amazon.. it would be worth it to get some BB RZ points..
Next question...can you purchase the Amazon gift cards with a best buy credit card? That would be awesome if I could buy these and get 3 year zero interest financing.

You can buy them with the BB c/c, but I dunno if they would qualify for the zero interest financing. They could have exclusions. They seriously offer THREE YEARS no interest now??? I knew they did 18 month offers...

Geezus, I was highly considering it at $12. $7 is a steal. Problem is I really don't have anything else I want right now. One of those times I wish I had prime (but at the same time, it keeps me from being frivolous).

Actually, they DO for online purchases. Apparently the form of payment information for web purchases doesn't transfer to RZ. So I try to buy everything from BB online when using GC's, so I get points.

When Lizard comes back, he's gonna look around and think he's in the wrong thread! It's kinda funny how the conversation has morphed...

I guess all the bad guys don't believe in target practice. I think I saw Shoot 'Em Up for $4 used on BD at Blockbuster this week and easily passed on it. Or maybe that was RocknRolla... both easy to pass on. My $2 DVD will suffice. For some good shooting I preferred Taken.
Um... Shoot 'Em Up was a great movie. I think you prolly went in with the wrong mindset. It's a great flick that is very tongue in cheek. Look at the title, it's simply telling you it's a Shoot 'Em Up movie. It's intentionally a parody of the genre. It IS ridiculous and it knows it. It takes the cliche's and turns them up to 11 for great fun. Granted, if you came in expecting Taken, you are definitely not going to get your money's worth.

Based on all this discussion, I'm going to go ahead with my Shoot 'Em Up purchase. I actually have it on DVD but have never watched, and for $6, this seems like a Blu kind of movie.

Thanks.. it seemed like kenbenobi stated he was getting RZ points.. hence my question...

Which he answered here relating to online purchases..

Only issue is the Amazon Kindle GC are only available in the store.

agree... although this was kinda Amazon related as we were discussing getting the Amazon GCs to use when buying our Blu-Ray deals from Amazon...

so we have established the following
1) BB RZ points for "purchasing" BB GC.
2) BB RZ points for "purchasing" Amazon GC.
3) No points for redeeming a BB GC in store for anything even Amazon GC.
4) BB RZ points for redeeming a BB GC online.

Therefore... we might as well get BB RZ on our Amazon Blu-Ray purchases..

Event Horizon arrived yesterday. It's amazing how you think a price can't get any lower and it goes even lower. These should all be $4 next BF.
And, Shoot 'Em Up is one of the worst movies I've seen in the last few years. Absolutely painful to sit through.

I don't think I made it through the first 15 minutes. Horrible.

Around the time Season 13 came out. Amazon had them (new) anywhere from $9.99 to $16.99. Then the market place sellers had them for $1.99 to $8.05 (Season 10, unopened). I picked 4 of them used and the rest new. All but one season did come to me unopened, new (12 new, one open). I did not used any GC or Coupons or anything.

I did come closed to buying Season 14 at Target (I know this is not a Target Thread) but they had SNL Season 2 for $13.99.

Shoot 'Em Up was great, if you love over the top action films you'll really dig it....

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

I really should watch Shoot 'Em Up again but my recollection from watching it several years ago is that it's a forgettable movie. I'm into over-the-top action films that I've picked movies like Wanted and Crank (couldn't stand Crank 2 though) on Blu. As with any film, people will love it or they don't. Maybe I might change my mind with a second viewing.

Shoot 'em Up is a blast. Very much in the same ballpark as Crank and Wanted. Plus you get Giamatti just chewing up the scenery.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

Look the point of Shoot em Up is that it's intended to be a live action Bugs Bunny cartoon (notice Clive is always chewing on a carrot). It's ridiculous but its intentionally so. If that sounds like your bag then you'll love it. I thought it was a blast.

Another vote thumbs up for Shoot em Up. It was one of the first blu-rays that I bought and not only was the movie great, but it was one of the best discs video/audio I've had on my system to date. And that was a couple of years ago when I've bought it and that fact has not changed since.
