I missed out.
Went at 5, didn't make it.
Shame on me for sticking with Amazon lightning deals, but you gotta go for the sure thing!

I just went to my local Target, had a friend of mine check availability on his scanner, none in store, none in the nearest Target.
Target.com says my local store has them in stock.
I should have went yesterday and hid it, silly me. :P

Went in at 4, went right to where I expected it to be, grabbed it and hauled out of there before the register lines formed. On the way, I snagged the DVD set of "Harry Potter 3 Ultimate Edition" for the same price!

I can't believe it, but I went to the Brandon, FL store around 9AM and got it! The shelves were of course empty, so I wrote down the DPCI number and entered it into the price scanner. It showed that it was in stock in the storeroom, so an employee went back and got it for me. He said it was the last one. To make matters even sweeter, there was no security case or sensor wrapped around it. The case is in perfect condition!

I went to target around 7AM just to check on this and they were gone. No big loss for me, but it would've been cool. I did get a couple of HDMI cables for $10 each, so that was nice.

Got to my local Target about 15 minutes before opening and there must have been at least 400 people in front of me. I still held out hope on picking up a copy and proceeded to get in line in the drizzling rain. Amazingly, it only took 10 minutes for me to get to the front door. I headed straight for electronics while dodging all the people with oversized LCD TVs in their carts. Just my luck, there was a guy standing there holding the last copy of LOTR trilogy in one hand and all three individual movies in the other debating on which one to get. My Jedi mind trick must be rusty, because he decided to put the individual movies back on the shelf.
Not giving up yet, I wrote down the DPCI code (058-40-0021) to see if they have more in the back. It took them about half an hour with all the pandemonium, but they managed to find another "last copy" in the store.
Now I just have to find a deal on a BR player and HDTV to watch it!

went around 4:30 this morning to two targets near me and neither had it on the shelf, didn't even think to check online seeing as they might have been hiding it in the back.

Went to Target in Bend, Oregon, knowing that the website listed the LOTR Trilogy as "limited availability" at this location. I then showed an employee in electronics the DPCI number for the LOTR Trilogy (#058-40-0021), they looked it up, found one copy was in the stock room. $7.99 out the door.
...the DPCI number is probably the easiest way for Target employees to check stock.

No luck in my area, but I had ordered it online yesterday... Would have canceled the order to save on shipping, but it's no biggie. I was expecting Target to have a lot of unadvertised BD deals, but was disappointed. The TV season selection was OK I suppose, and there were some good DVD deals, but I didn't buy one single thing... I bought a LOT of stuff at Ultimate Electronics today, but nothing at Target or BB. That's a first for me on all 3 counts...

I wonder when the people that ordered online will actually get it shipped. I'm not going to believe that they will ship it until I get that notice. Now hurry the fuck up already!

re: (DEAD) Lord of the Rings Trilogy $7.99 @ Target.com
I was eating breakfast with my family at a restaurant right beside my local Target, so at about 10:30am I checked online using my Droid and it showed LOTR as being "available." So, curiousity got the best of me and I walked over to take a look.
I located the bin tag, but there were none on the shelf. I found a nearby employee who suggested there could be some in customer's baskets, but she never offered to check "in the back." Thus, I left emptyhanded.
Funny thing, though; the Target website STILL shows it as being "available" for my store. Hmmm...

Wow, I checked the Target website to see if this LotR trilogy BD set was at any of my nearby Target stores, and the website said that one store 6 miles away had low stock, but I took a chance and drove there (needed to get something to eat anyway), gave the clerk the proper digits and he found a set in the stock room. Hooray!
Usually deals like these, where it's been such long time between it being posted and me finding out, the deal has sailed on past me. Oh lucky day.

Went to Target to grab couple of TV sets and also for LOTR trilogy set but couldn't even find the sale tag on any shelf. Asked an employee over electronics and he told me that they are already sold out of it so I said thanks and walked back to get some Blu-rays. While I was standing in front of the isle 2 employee came over and conversation went on like this in front of me:
Target Employee 1: I am going to grab couple of them (while he is leaning towards Blu-ray isle)
Target Employee 2: Are you going to get.... (Some title I can’t remember right know)
Target Employee 1: Yeah I am going to get that one for my grandma (at this point he is on the floor reaching back of the Blu-ray shelf and grabbing 3 LOTR trilogy)
Target Employee 2: Are you going to get all 3 of them???
Target Employee 1: (laughs) Yeah! (While he is grabbing 2-3 other titles and moves toward checkout)
First I thought he was just stocking movies till I realize he was pulling movies behind the shelves that had been specifically hidden from customers reach. At that point I didn’t know what to do I was just shocked. I thought about following him to the checkout and confronting (or asking for 1 of the copies) him but then I just decided to let it go.
BTW my Target had multiple copies 2 days before sale started and it was showing that they had them in stock right before I went there.
