That is crazy! I have several used blu ray that went up to $29.10 per item. They aren't even that much brand new. I guess those items aren't profitable with the 25% off so they made sure we wouldn't purchase them. What a joke!

Yikes! Shipping increase too! They must be desperate. I'm not going to bite, even though there are a few items still at a reasonable price.

$1.29 per item. Yeah, that's a bit much, especially when your shopping list has about 10 items.

Yeah, they should at least offer a break on multiple items. The problem is that the discs often come from multiple locations. My guess is that the company has hired a third party financial company to try to figure out a business model. So they are playing around with the numbers to see how customers react. If the sale was 40% off, I wouldn't have scoffed at the shipping charges. 25% isn't enough, especially when it doesn't cover all products in the category. Hopefully they start to notice a huge dip in sales with the promo pricing. Then we will start to see better deals. I cannot imagine people are still biting at 25% at the same level as 40%

Me either, especially with the increase in prices from what they were pre-sale AND the increased shipping charges.

Indeed, the only thing that made GoHastings.com special is gone. They're no different from any other retailer now.

My hunch is they've done some financial value analysis of their online business and realized they were losing money, hand over fist. Everyone was so happy with their used prices because they were constantly undercutting everyone else on the Internet by 20% to 30%.

Yes, agreed. I was a bit late to the show too. For a long time I shied away from used product but then I started to find some limited edition, bonus disc, etc. at a great price and typically the quality was fine. I'm glad I got some good finds while it lasted.

Honestly, the raise in shipping doesn't really bother me. I mean, it's a bout 30 cents more, but where else can you order one item and only pay 1.29 to ship it? A lot better than Amazon's 3.99 each, or even Half's 2.99 + 1.89 if you manage to find multiple items from the same seller.

Yes, I see your point. For one or two items it isn't bad, but you would think they would want you to buy more. The prices usually look good to me, but if I am ordering 3 or more items, the price starts creeping toward the $20 mark. For some reason, I have my price point at around $10 and once it gets above $15 I start to get buyer's remorse.

If you're buying something for around $15 each or more, then you won't notice the shipping charge increase. But if you're shopping for used titles which are around $1.45 - $2.99 a piece, the extra .30 a title takes a big dent out of the 25% OFF sale.

For example, if I find 7 titles for $2 a piece. $14 (- $3.50 for a 25% coupon). Yeah, ok not bad at all. But then I have to remember, oh wait, that's another $9 after the coupon is applied, that I add to my order. Because shipping costs are not part of the discount.

So, if we're buying large-ticket items, this won't affect you. But for used titles that hover around $2-$4, it certainly will. I've used GH in the past in filling my collection with titles I normally wouldn't pay over $5 for, but it makes it just that more difficult when buying something from them now.

I still like GoHastings, but it's just going to be more difficult for me to shop there.

This is a prefect reason why I don't buy used movies anymore. Even at $6, I bought it brand new during black friday last year for $7. If you are patient, you can always find good deals on new movies. There were many times I almost pulled the trigger on the Indiana Jones set, but I'm glad I didn't since I was able to pick it up from Best Buy for $20.
