Re: Amazon Black Friday Sales Start Monday, November 22nd

I just picked up the BTTF set as part of a special where you get 8 bucks off when you buy two select Blu Ray titles. I got BTTF and Psycho 50th Anniversary Edition. So if you don't mind buying something else with it (and I really wanted Psycho anyway, so I didn't) it's like getting BTTF for 26.49.

I can't post the link because I haven't posted enough but you should see it on the right side of the page when you go to the blu ray section of Amazon, where it says "Save $8 on select new blu ray releases."

As far as deals go many of these titles are stinkers. I sure wish that Amazon would throw us a curve and put some Criterions and Digibook titles out there for a discount. The Love Guru? I saw a used copy at BBV for 6.99 and I still wouldn't touch that movie. I'm not buying just for the sake of buying.

I'm hoping for a sale on Fringe s2 and/or Supernatural s5, though I don't really expect it to happen. DD had those on sale awhile back but I don't trust that site anymore- would much rather get them through Amazon.

Good for you. I personally would never go into a BBV.

I have many of the digibooks titles in my wishlist but they havn't been on sale in ages. I miss when they slashed the first few to $10-15 each.

Welcome JimJ! I'm planning to buy the same combo, but will wait until BTTF goes on sale next Monday. Hopefully I can get both in my cart before BTTF sells out

BTW, here's the LINK

I'm not knocking your purchases but rather what Amazon makes available to us as their deals. I would rather have some real quality titles as I already have enough shit on my shelves.

Sorry if it's already been asked, but will these prices (excluding the lightning deals) stay as low as they are now all week, or could they end up going up tomorrow?

I never paid that price for a single movie release and I have around 700 BDs. I remember getting my first 2 BDs with a 2 for 30 promotion at Best Buy. Those titles were Monster House and Nacho Libre and I bought them in February of 2007.

With Amazon the prices could change whenever. Your best bet is to buy something you want when you see it at your price point.

If DVD Talk was Major League Baseball, DthRdrX would be the New York Yankees. Dude, you should qualify for some kind of Stimulating the Economy tax credit or something for that order. And to think, I'll be happy if I score Psych season 4 on DVD for ~ $12.99.

Haha fair enough, I was just giving you a good ribbing. To be fair Australia isn't as bad as The Happening. I didn't enjoy Australia because I thought I was going to get to see Bolt and instead Australia was chosen. In retrospect I didn't really enjoy either, haha.

I have some questionable films in my collection as well. We probably all do.

Oh, what the hell; I'll play along, though at this point I'm just spending store credit (and truth be told, there's not much coming out in terms of sales--that I know about anyways--that I want):

Batman (1989) ($0.00)
The Departed ($0.00)
Tommy ($0.00)

Wow, smart idea! If the deal works on Monday, I'm going to be tempted to join in on that same combination, or maybe Out of Africa (despite the reviews). Or, for effectively $2.99, I have a newfound interest in Apollo 13.

I just checked, and you do not have to add both titles at once from the deal page. So, as long as the deal stays active, adding the lightning Back To The Future to your cart along with any of the other titles should activate it automatically.

I e-mailed customer service to see if I could take advantage of this retroactively since the BttF listing does not list this offer (and I'd specifically checked special offers on that page before placing the order).

I was able to grab one thankfully. But yeah all the seasons were all pretty much gone about 15 minutes in. I was surprised.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - $7.99
Though I want to buy this movie, $7.99 for a DVD is really a tough sell. I'd rather pay $10 for the BD. Think I'll pass.

Hotel for Dogs (Widescreen Edition) - $6.99
Amazon had this for $5 last year's BF week. I guess that's inflation. No wait, the Fed says there isn't any. Hmmm.

Ice Age [Blu-ray] - $5.00
Wow. The first $5 Blu-Ray in their BF week sales I don't already have that I can try to buy!

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (Three-Disc Edition + Digital Copy + DVD) [Blu-ray] - $5.00
I got royally screwed on this paying $12.99 + tax at Target back in February. That'll teach me again not to go over $10 per movie. And this was pretty disappointing compared to the first (unless you enjoy Hank Azaria talking like a sissy) so $5 is about what it's worth.

Ice Age: The Meltdown (Widescreen Edition) - $1.99
Evil of them to have Ice Age 1 BD for $5 but then only the DVD (which I already have) of Ice Age 2.

Dissapointed with the Simpsons sale this morning, they had the Krusty the Clown special pack on sale. Also no Blu sale for the 20th season so no sales for me.

I never meant to say anything negative to/about you by quoteing you. In fact, thanks for posting and summarizing the next day's deals here! I was simply offering commentary on some items and the fact that you posted the items made it easy to quote you. I just fixed it by taking your name out of the quotes which I should've done to start with.

Same here regarding no BD for season 20, so I held my nose and ordered it on regular (ewww!) DVD. That practically guarantees a season 20 BD deal 1 day past the time limit to return it to Amazon in January. I remember long ago reading some people on DVD Talk discussing that The Simpsons on BD doesn't benefit as much as your average movie, so it may not be a huge loss.
