I am not sure if this was a YMMV deal. Maybe mis-priced or what have you, but I was in Borders today and they had the Dirty Harry Collection priced at $34.99 (normal price not sale). I went in with a 40% off single item coupons (Border Rewards) and ended up getting this for $20.99 + tax. Not bad price for 5 films!

Are you sure the one you got was the Blu-ray? Borders online shows the dvd set at $32 and the Blu-ray set at $79. If I were you, I'd check to make sure you got the right one. If you did, that's a great deal.

20.99 minus 40% as the title indicates is a phenomenal deal. Why did they subtract 40% twice though?

I'm quite sure the difference between Blu-Ray and DVD and indeed these are Blu-Rays.

It was meant to say $22.99 AFTER 40% coupon. I tried to change the thread title but it stayed the same.

Anyone have any info regarding the accuracy of the Borders.com inventory system? It shows this out of stock at all local Borders.

It really depends on how well your local store's Inventory Team is run.

I used to be a Manager at Borders running Operations/Inventory. If everything is perfect, than the inventory check online will actually reflect what is in store.

If your local store is behind and putting product out, but not updating inventory in the computers, than it will be wrong.

The best bet is to call and ask an associate to physically check for you.

It's a free membership deal and they send 33%, 40% and even 50% coupons all the time.

It's quite painless they give you a card right there then just ask for eMail address, which is how you receive the coupons.

Didn't find them at the local Borders.
Apparently BJs has them for 23.99. I don't have a BJs near me so I'm hoping Costco will get them soon.

Since I bought the first 4 BDs for $20 from Best Buy and it's past their 30-day return window, it would make sense that Dirty Harry complete sets (with The Dead Pool which I didn't get) would start popping up for about the same price.

Last time I went to my Borders months ago, I laughed at the most pitiful selection of DVDs and Blu-Rays I ever seen. There weren't any boxed sets there and I'd be shocked if they had the Dirty Harry BD set at mine even if I wanted it.

Not skeptical at all. It's just that I think it's store dependent (YMMV), and I know that my Borders carries almost no movies (maybe 30 total but I didn't count them)... whatever fits in 2 small cardboard displays. Suffice it to say Borders has the smallest movie selection of any store I know of in my area.

From your receipt, it looks like your store has the BD set mixed up with the DVD set. If you search for both sets on borders.com and check the BINC numbers, it shows:

3086702: DVD set
3098699: BD set

Your receipt clearly shows the item number as 3086702, so the system charged you for the DVD set price. Not sure how that mix up happened, but good for you

My original post was that this may be YMMV and that the sticker may be a pricing error.

But still with the numerous 33%, 40% and 50% coupons they eMail out to rewards members there are still deals to be had on things like Criterion Blu's etc.

I'm still receiving them. Maybe create a new account (different eMail) on their website and they'll start coming again. Or maybe your Junk filter is nabbing them.

If you search on Slickdeals for Borders coupons, you can often find a link to the latest 40% off coupon (they usually have 33% or 40% ones) even if they didn't email you one. They still email me 40% off coupons, but I can't remember the last time I used a Borders coupon since my store pretty much only carries books now and I'm not big into books.

Now that I know the reason for the good price on the Dirty Harry BD set was that a Borders store mixed up the DVD and BD sets, the likelihood of success (even if my store happened to carry this set among its handful of titles) is pretty small that multiple stores made the same mistake.

Has anyone besides the OP gotten this deal?

Don't get excited. Borders prices are so high, with rare exceptions even with 40-50% off coupons you can still find a cheaper price on Amazon, sometimes even Best Buy.
