Seems like a decent deal for this. I've only seen the original and the remake though. Are the two sequels any good?

The second one is worth it. The third movie is pretty much garbage. The BR set doesnt have the fourth movie like the dvd set does, but that's a piece of garbage also.

Yea, the remake isn't the fourth movie, there was a TV movie call "The Omen: The Awakening" It's pretty terrible though! All together there were five Omen movies.

I got the set today... the packaging is really pretty cheap.

It's got an outer cardboard cover like most TV show box sets have, but instead of plastic holders for the discs, the 4 flap cardboard holder just has squishy circles as the thing holding the discs to the cardboard.

Needless to say, a loose disc and some squishing of the boxes.

And isn't the 2006 version almost like the redo of Psycho - i.e. it is almost a shot-for-shot remake?

No, there are far more differences between these than Psycho.

What a f**king piece of shit packaging Fox did for this...they used the flimsiest paper they can find for the boxset cover so of course it got crushed when it shipped.

I returned the boxset to Amazon for a refund

I remember this being brought (with pictures) by a couple forum members around it's time of release.

It's a great price, but I might just wait for a drop on the UK set (which I believe comes in a Keepcase)

You are correct, the UK set comes in a keepcase and is region free. It only includes the first 3 films, but most people probably don't care about the remake. The UK trilogy has been available for a comparable price to the U.S. version as well from Amazon UK if anyone plans on keeping tabs on it.

This is in my Gold Box Quick Picks today for $22.79. I've never seen any of the films, but I'm contemplating picking it up. Someone help push me one direction or another. $5.70 per film seems awesome for this set, even if the fourth one is apparently atrocious.

For some reason Fox encoded the remake in MPEG-2 rather than AVC.

Mine was a bit smooshed, but I'm not too worried about it, not enough to go through the hassle of sending it back.
