Damn. I didn't order mine until yesterday. I knew this would happen. I've been tempted to order it for weeks, but I had ordered it from Frys.com two months ago when they had it for 9.49 + 1.99 shipping. I never received it. And they are taking way too long resolving my claim. So I said screw it and finally ordered from Amazon. If I get the 1-disc, it's going back. Very disappointing... They haven't even shipped it yet, but I can't cancel. Bummer...

I'm assuming you don't live near a Fry's? I just dropped by today, and they still had 4 copies of the 2 disc set on the shelf for $9.99.

I have just had confirmation that the replacement EVIL DEAD has been shipped,3 hours after i had emailed them to complain...amazing how fast they can ship when they want to,but i still reckon its gonna be the one disc...i will keep you posted.

i contacted amazon explaining i received the 1-disc evil dead bd and that others were getting 2-disc versions. i asked if i could exchange mine as it was unopened still.

they said that they don't have an exchange program and that they searched amazon for a 2-disc evil dead blu-ray version and didn't see one.

i don't think i am explaining this correctly to them.

Got the replacement EVIL DEAD after my complaint,fast shipping,only re-ordered it yesterday,and yup its the one disc for me AGAIN.
And rubix,i sent a lengthy email explaining the difference between a one disc and a blu/ray dvd combo,and as you see it got me nowhere!
Looks like ebay for me then.

The Evil Dead 2-disc Blu-ray is not a typical Blu-ray/DVD combo in that it doesn't come with a DVD of the movie like other Combos; it is a "Limited Edition" with a DVD that contains "special features". Once the Limited Edition is gone you get the one disc. And both the single disc and the 2 disc have the same UPC which means they are considered the same product. It sounds like Amazon has sold all of the Limited Edition versions so all that's left is the single disc.

I found the Limited Edition at FYE for 10.99 before discounts and coupons so you might check there if you have one close by.

How will I know the difference between 2-disc and single disc w/o opening the package ?

The LE has a green band across the top that says "limited edition dvd w/ special features" or something along those lines. It does tell you right on the front artwork though

By "package" I'm not sure if you mean the amazon box, or the DVD case. Assuming you mean the Amazon box, you probably won't know. You could try shaking the box to hear the disc tray move, but you'll probably only hear the DVD case moving in the box... If you meant the DVD case, there is a banner on the top that says Limited Edition, and the back will reflect the 2nd disc.

If the price is right the price is right but I kind of expect a lot of these to be cheaper in about a month (different maybe with something like ED:2 Disc that looks to be gone once it's gone, so to speak). Amazon was nuts after Black Friday last year for BRs.

If you can find the LE somewhere retail, even if it's much more expensive than the one disc version you got from Amazon, just buy it, and return the one disc version to the store later. They have the same UPC, it should be no problem.

Thanks guys I was asking how will I know w/o opening the Amazon box. I guess I will open it when i get mine from amazon and if it's the single disc version then I will return it and get it from Bestbuy. It looks like they have the 2 Disc LE for $9.99.
