Edit: According to Blu-ray.com, it has been pushed back to Oct. 26.
Mine still shows on order. I will raise HELL with them if they cancel my order. I spent enough money with them over the past couple months to justify it.

Originally it was supposed to be released last week... was delayed at the last minute... anyway I glanced at the email too quickly. It was something else that shipped in the same order.

The Maltese Falcon $17.49

Matches the recent price reduction for The Treasure of Sierra Madre.

For some reason I never cared for this classic and never managed to sit through it. The same with Casablanca, although I find that to be slightly better. Good price on GWTW though for those who missed out on the Target deal last black Friday with the infamous $5 coupon. With that coupon I picked up, IMHO, the much better classic The Wizard of Oz for $7.99!

The Iron Man 2 combo pack is down to $19.99 ahead of Best Buy's upcoming sale.

Agreed, but you can't really jump on lizard about posting something for $17.49 when others are consistently posting deals for ~$20.00...

It's all about percentage off.

meh... I preferred this thread when it was the $9.99 Amazon thread (I believe.) To me, I don't care what Blu-Ray it is, I am never paying more than, say, ~$11.00, ever. IMHO, anyone who posts a "deal" for something more than ~$11.00 is inconsequential regardless of percentage off or the price it has been in the past. I.e. "oh this, Blu-Ray has been $29.99 for a year now, and now it is down to $18.99." Don't even bother posting it in the deals section, it is not a deal. Box sets or otherwise excluded.

Edit: Ranted a bit on this. I'm not one to dictate what one can and can't post. If you think it's a deal, more power to you. I was just venting my frustration on the general trend of the deals threads over the last year or so.

Re: Amazon.com Discounts and Deals on Blu-ray Part II

I've yet to buy a "regular" BD for $29.99. Fuck instore. At the most I'll pay is 19.99 for a new release. BUT..it had to be something like APOCALYPSE NOW for me to pay $41.99 without batting an eye.

It's not a deal to you, but depending on the title I think it can most certainly be considered one for others. For instance, Iron Man 2 dropping to $19.99 to match next week's Best Buy ad is a deal to me, given $24.99 pricing this week. It really depends on the context of pricing to me

Fair enough, but sometimes the "deals" posted in these bargains threads boggle the mind. I don't see how $19.99 is really a deal, but I guess if you really want the movie, well...whatever. I may be a bit biased because I really could care less about new releases and getting them at the cheapest price they are available soon after release. I think that's kind of a false "deal"... once again if you ignore the "must have" factor. There is no movie that I consider "must have."

We need to start a Numes' thread of BDs under $11 thread.

Those were recently released classics and that price was the lowest they've been at Amazon. Yes, in six months or a year they will be cheaper, but for those who want to get them now that price may be of interest.

Not every "bargain" is less than $10, although that is my preferred limit for buying BDs. I, for one, would be really pleased if How to Train Your Dragon dropped to $20 by release day from the current $24.99 because it is a rare title I plan to get sooner than later.

I'm sorry for wasting your time by bumping a thread to post deals that don't interest you. They may, on occasion, interest others. However, since it isn't my intention to annoy people here, I will refrain from posting any more Amazon prices for the time being.

For the record: the current net average cost of the DVD, HD DVD, and BD titles in my collection is 74¢. The average purchase price of the 70 BDs in my collection is $9.76, excluding seven TV sets. That would not have been possible without the Bargains forum.

Re: Amazon.com Discounts and Deals on Blu-ray Part II

Why exactly don't we have two Amazon threads -- one for general deals, and one for stuff that's $10.99 and less?

That's kind of the way it used to be.

To anyone else - I went on a bit of a rant last night, it was more of just a build up of my thoughts on this thread and I was a little frustrated because it used to be structured a bit differently. I shouldn't have said "don't even bother posting it." Personally, I think it dilutes the thread a bit, but it's something I can filter out myself (which I have already been doing.)

Re: Amazon.com Discounts and Deals on Blu-ray Part II

[sarcasm] Let's create a new rule. All bargains must be in their own thread per title, per store, per price. This way we will have small concise threads which only list 1 title and discussions about the low price on that one title from that one vendor. We will all embrace 1000s of threads cause each thread will be so small and precise. Sound good... [/sarcasm]... NAH....
