Re: Scream-Franchise-Collection-Blu-ray CDN$ 27.99 amazon.ca

I've heard this will get a US release next year, but I might pick it up if the aspect ratios are correct and it's 1080p with some good reviews, rather than the 1080i that someone has been reported.

With shipping, Amazon is sure not where I'd get it, though. I have no idea why they have such an issue when their Canadian competitors charge reasonable prices.

Re: Scream-Franchise-Collection-Blu-ray CDN$ 27.99 amazon.ca

I would love to get this but I fear the aspect ratios on 2 and 3 will be 1.78:1 instead of 2.35:1. From what I've heard the first film is 2.35:1 and 1080p, but that was the Australian version, who knows if this is the OAR on all films and 1080p. Canada is so shady about some films being the OAR and 1080p and others being a cropped AR and being 1080i

You're sure? And are they 1080p or 1080i?

Re: Scream-Franchise-Collection-Blu-ray CDN$ 27.99 amazon.ca

Not ALL the Canadian BDs are 1080i, a lot of them are like: Seed of Chucky (which is also only the rated version), Dracula 2000 and Cursed. But others like: From Dusk Till Dawn, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Freddy vs. Jason (which is now on US BD) are 1080p, so it's kind of a toss up in the air. I really want to grab this but I'm going to waste my time if it's not 1080p.

They say 1080i, but it could be 1080p. The Faculty, Good Will Hunting, etc. say 1080i but are in fact 1080p.

Is the 1080i vs 1080p difference really noticeable with the naked eye? Just asking since my main Sony HDTV is only 1080i and I have no way of comparing.

From my own experience, it's not noticeable.

I don't want to chance it, I'd rather just have the 1080p

The Real Deal is actually at CDplus.com where it has been 24.99 shipped to the US with free shipping.

http://www.cdplus.com/shop/default.a...e=065935838722

The scream price on amazon.ca is about ten dollars more when you factor in the shipping
Mine shipped last wed so it should be here any day now, Iam thinking tommorow.

Very cool. PLEASE let me know if it's 1080p or 1080i, meaning what it says when you play it, since apparently some of the titles have been 1080p even though they say 1080i. Also Amazon.ca's shipping to the US is usually $10, or at least it is in Chicago. So it would be damn near $40 to get it through them.

I would think we would see the Scream films released in America when Scream 4 comes out. So if these Canadian versions are sub-par quality, it might pay to wait. I know I regret picking up the Australian version of the first movie.

Really? I heard it looked pretty damn good, I just never picked it up because it was expensive. I don't mind getting them for a good price now if the quality is good and then upgrading when they come out next year, I did it with Freddy vs. Jason. But I'm not going to waste my time if the quality sucks.

Some member on Blu-ray.com confirmed these as all 1080i. I know it's a bit disappointing, but this set is still a good value for now IMHO -- all things considered. Certainly, I am still excited to receive it. And it's been confirmed (for those still unsure) that they are all in the correct aspect ratios.

Aside from finally being anamorphic, it sucks. The picture is very soft and more importantly, the audio is sped up making it difficult to watch.

I don't know, I may just wait on this I haven't decided. 1080i does suck, why they do this is beyond me, but Halloween 6 and 7 were 1080i and they looked alright at best, so I'll probably just wait till next year, very disappointed.

Same here. Unlike the Halloween films, I feel like these have a good chance of getting a better release in the States.

Have fun waiting a few years until Miramax's distribution issues are handled.

Huh? Go back and re-read the question that I answered. I was asked why I didn't like the Australian release.

Thanks, I will! I have seen these movies enough that I don't have to buy whatever version is out, especially if it's a rather disappointing release. I already learned my lesson by jumping the gun on the Australian release. I would have picked these up if they had been 1080P, but not now. I was really hoping that it was just a misprint on the box.

Exactly. Such a gameble to see if they release them when Scream 4 hits next year. For $25, I'm not waiting. I can no doubt recoup those costs easily by selling them, and the Mirimax ones will like carry an insane $40 MSRP each.
