DVD/Blu-Ray deals- Batman, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Die Hard

Man, so many awesome sales on Amazon today:

Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology 1989-1997 (Batman/ Batman Returns/ Batman Forever/ Batman & Robin) [Blu-ray]- $55.49 (normally $129.95)
Sure Batman & Robin sucked, but the first three are classic (and look beautiful on Blu-ray)

Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection (first 6 movies) Blu-Ray- $73.49 (originally $139.99)
6 classic sci-fi movies

Die Hard Collection Blu-Ray- $39.99 (originally $79.99)
All four movies in the classic action movie series for $10 each.

If Batman Forever is a classic, then that word has lost all meaning.

given how bad Batman & Robin is, I like to give Batman Forever a little slack

So your dictionary has much different entries than mine for both "classic" and "little" then.

I have the first two separately. Batman is in the preferable "20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Book" case which beats the one in this set by a mile IMHO.

Thanks, but how about prices and retailer in the thread title next time?

Or even better, put this in the Amazon BD bargains thread.

Thanks! I'll hold out. As far as "who knows if it will go that low again"... unless it goes OOP, how could it not?

(this in in reference to the Star Trek set)

Suprised no one else mentioned it, but the Batman Anthology can be had from Amazon.uk for roughly $30 only. A much better deal obviously.

Eh, Burton's Batman movies are highly overrated IMO. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight = much much better

I find the '89 Batman to be the most dated of all the productions, for some reason (Prince, maybe?)

Batman Returns is the only one amongst the four that I enjoy more now than even when I was 12 years old.

Is it just me, or is "Harry Potter" missing from this thread?

I didn't realize it wasn't blu-ray, so i removed it after posting, but it wouldn't let me edit the title

Man, I'd be all over the Batman set, but I had to go for the UK imports. (Certificate 15, in case anyone was wondering! It can be hard to tell, just looking at the case.)

Burton's Batman movies are valued for numerous elements: Elfman's score, Anton Furst's gorgeous art deco production design, Burton's German Expressionism influences. They were so distinct in character that they went on to redefine the very universe of Batman for at least a generation. I think The Dark Knight's a great film, but I think it's nowhere near as dense in its artistic interest, or as influential on the character, as Burton's films.
