Re: Planet Of The Apes collection $42.99 Amazon DoD (4/20/10)
Thanks for the heads up I just ordered it . I only have the first movie on DVD and really haven't seen many of these movies since the 70's .
It will be nice to revisit these.

Same here. I have an unopened Legacy DVD set on my shelf, so to spend another $43 for the Blu-Ray is an upgrade I can't justify since these aren't the kind of movies I'm in the mood to watch very often. Now if I could get my money back on the Legacy DVD set I would order, but that would require a receiptless return somewhere and it's not worth all the effort.

I love these films, but doubt I'd 'upgrade' to BD for more than $20.
The DVDs are gorgeous, but only get watched once every few years. I might upgrade the original someday, since I'll watch that one more often, but for the others I'll likely forever live with DVD.
Of course, on days where my shopping addiction is stronger, I'd jump on this.

I feel the same way about my Legacy set. If I had watched any of them since I bought it years ago, I would jump on this upgrade deal, but since I haven't, it just seems like $42 I don't need to spend (unless I got a cool ape head with it or something, or at least some cartoons...). It's a great deal if you don't already have the movies in some form already though.

^ Definitely! If I had the ape head.
I ordered it once, but DD cancelled my order and refused to honor the old price when they magically got it back in stock a month later.
I think I have the older set, Legacy?, but I'm not positive.

Remember, in this set there is the alternate cut of the 4th film that isn't available on dvd... It is a very different film than the watered down domestic cut.

I bought this set one of the last times it was on an amazon deal of the day....
It's totally worth it. Considering the dates of the source material, the discs look and sound fantastic. The packaging and presentation of the set itself is really top notch as well. Definitely worth $43

Re: just kidding of course
Ape shall not kill ape.
I used to own the Evolution collection, but sold it off. Now own the Legacy collection, the Ape Head, the orig. TV series release, the 35th anniv orig POA release and this blu-ray release.
$8.60 / movie + book. can't go wrong IMO.

I picked it up in December for $50, but have yet to watch it. Nice set, a good deal at this price.

I've never seen these before, and I passed so many times at more expensive prices, but I couldn't bring myself to pass this time.

Never bought this on DVD and have close to $30 in GC, so, yeah, picking this up is a no-brainer...

I bought it. I kinda regret it cuz I probably shouldn't have bought it cuz I may need that extra cash for my project. Oh well...I'll be happy one way or another.

Just kidding. I finally got around to reading the excellent review here. There are enough new extra features to make me want it.
Coincidentally, while I reply to you I am sitting outside of Papa Johns waiting for my pizza.

I got this today. Just the other day I was wondering if all the Apes movies were on Blu-Ray then this pops up on the DOTD for perhaps the cheapest price it may ever be. And maybe even cheaper than I paid for the non anamorphic DVD set.
Shoot, that book is worth some good money by itself. This is an excellent buy.
