This is the old packaging, so if you want the new one, you'll have to send away for it.

I just checked the website again and on the TV Shows page, it says online only. I have no idea if the in-store product will ring up at the same price.

What do you mean by "send away for it"? Do you simply mean buy the new version via mail order or are you saying that those of us who have the old crappy packaging can send away to the studio for the new packaging (for a reasonable price I hope)?

I watch Mad Men, have seen all of The Shield and all of The Wire...

None are close to being as good as BSG...

Maybe Damages comes close?

FYI: The new version of the complete set is $149.99 at Amazon.ca, or $147 and change plus $7.99 shipping to the US. Seems like a much better bet to just pre-order the new set from Canada and avoid having to go through the case exchange program. Not to mention, the new set actually comes with The Plan.

Could someone explain the difference in the packaging? I see the Cyclon head for the old package, and is the new package just a standard case?

What is with people's dislike of the original packaging? Seems like it could be a collectable item.

The big problem with the old packaging is the discs are in a cardboard sleeve. Also, some people don't like the oversize box which doesn't fit on their movie shelf. You can see pics here:

Thanks for those links. The new case is a big improvement. I emailed Universal and they said all I need to do is send them the cut up top of the season 1 box and there's no charge. They didn't mention a time limit to send this in.

So, will I receive everything shown in that last link (i.e. a separate Blu-Ray sized dual-BD case for each 2 BDs, or are those "custom cases" shown something that somebody created meaning Universal is only going to send me the outer box and season boxes and I have to supply the BD cases?

The Shield is an amazing show...check out Southland...it's right up there.
