The only time I pay that much for a new release is if it has a slipcover that I think is going to go the way of the dodo bird after the 1st week, or if there's an exclusive-content bonus DVD in the box. Any other time, I'll wait for the price to drop.

You'll pay an extra $5 for a slip of cardboard?

I normally just take it off and store it somewhere behind my movies where they can't be seen. Personally I don't know why we need a cardboard version of the packaging we already have.

I like them as a space saver for when someone borrows that movie or it leaves the shelf for any reason.

Wow - time to start Ebay-ing my slipcovers. Looks like you discovered a sub-culture of BD/DVD collectors.

People will pay a decent price for them...I know over at blu-Ray.com they've now established a rarity rating for slips.

I can't believe Law Abiding Citizen dropped after one week. Why do I bother getting anything on release day?

These prices are making it very easy for me to never buy anything on release day.

Yeah they are certainly encouraging waiting. Its too bad they abandoned the $19.99 price pointfor the first week of release. At that price I'd probably have picked up 3 BDs

It was 17.99 in Targets ad this week, so its not like 16.99 is big of a drop, when you could simply price match targets price at bestbuy.

With the demise of all the Circuit City stores there is nobody to compete with for a lower price. CC always had the better new release prices.

Best Buy has a 30 day return policy, and Target has an even more generous 90 day return policy....simply repurchase a copy if it goes on sale cheaper within the time period and return it with your original release day receipt: problem solved...

just bring your receipt in and they will refund you the money, no need to rebuy it and return with a different receipt.

that's when they actually carried the new releases. so many times I went into a CC and they didn't have the title listed in their systems.

They only price match within 14 (or is it 30 now?) days (of themselves). You can return for up to 90 days. In many cases it's better to rebuy when its cheap and return with the more expensive receipt.
