Best Buy pricematches within the dates of the product's return policy. Meaning that if you buy an item that has a 30 day return policy, they will pricematch for 30 days. But if you buy something that has a 14 day return policy, like laptops, you can only pricematch for 14 days.

Sorry, thought this was the Target thread.

And if you're a Reward Zone Premier Silver member, it's 45 days for everything.

I'd like to get the Grumpy/Grumpier Old Men double feature blu ray disc which is priced now at $19.99 on bb.com. Wonder if they'll price drop it next week seeing as it's not in their ad. First time the 2 together have been available in ws. It's $17.99 at Amazon but I don't have Prime & don't need anything else to get up to $25 & SSS.

This could be wrong of course, and will always be YMMV, but a BB employee told me that while the return period is 45 days for silver members, the price adjustment policy stays at 30 days.

I get 99% of my rentals right away so why buy? A few I know I want right away but for the most part I'll give it time for the price to drop or a used copy to come along.

I guess anything from day 31 to 45 will just be a re-purchase and return then.

This is simply the stupidest policy and it only ends up costing the company more money. If that is the case there is no reason not to return the OPENED previously purchased product and rebuy at the cheaper or pricematched price. Now the company is stuck with an open product they have to resell as opened merchandise or return to the manufacturer.

It is even worse at Target. There price adjustment policy is 14 days from the date of purchase, but the return policy extends 90 days. WTF??!?!? I can't tell you how many times I have been in Target to price adjust something after 60 days and they say they can only do it for two weeks from date of purchase. I then just say I need to return this opened item and go buy a brand new one of the shelf at the cheaper price. They just look at you with an empty gaze.

It is bad business. The price adjustment and return policy have got to be the same length or the store is gonna get hosed.

Just about every store will not accept an opened DVD/BD for a return unless it is defective (in which case they just exchange it for another copy, which they typically open up right there)....

You keep saying you have to return the opened copy....why? Any copy is identical to the next one...just go grab a new unopened one off of the shelf, purchase it, and then immediately go over to the customer service/returns counter and return that copy with your original (more expensive) receipt....I don't understand why you feel the need to bother with even trying to "return" the opened copy you already have sitting at home on your shelf first....leave it at home, you don't even need to bother with it, just the receipt will do!

I understand your point, but disagree that it is bad business for the retailers.

As WM pointed out, they don't take back open product (generally).

But mainly, most people won't bother to do the return/re-buy, so it saves them a lot of money to keep the policy short like this.

I don't get Best Buy. They have a really good selection of Blu-rays....probably the best B&M for BD. Why don't they put 20 or so catalog tiles on sale each week? They aren't moving at full retail, so why not do something to drive in traffic?

Don't you remember? The bargain hunters are a couple steps up from pond scum as far as they are concerned... They adopted a basic, no bargain hunter policy two years ago.

I browse the blu-ray aisles every week, and always see 10-20 rotating catalog titles on sale.

Yup, my local BB have their own display shelf with new(er) BD releases and ones on sale. When I picked up Marley and me today I counted over 20 on sale from $10 to $20.

Btw Marley and me came with a free ticket to Chipmunks 2. I suppose no theater will give you a ticket to a different movie since they are not showing it anymore. Right?

The ticket might already be expired, anyway?

Ordered, thx! Free shipping this week, too! Also, bing has 8 - 15% CB right now... Usually 3% I believe...

This is good news, but I wish they published a list of those titles in their weekly ad.

Is there a separate thread for BB that reports these random titles like there is for WalMart and Amazon?

Yeah, they have always had unadvertised specials, DVD and BD.

Sometimes they get a separate thread or mentioned in these weekly ads, sometimes not. It just takes one of us to do the work.

Generally, if you check out their sales section of the movies department on BestBuy.com, every one of the titles on sale in-store (and more) are listed there.

Agreed

Even though I heard the transfer is less than stellar, I just need it at a cheap price because I want all the new BD extras
