2 BDs for ~$20 w/ $10 off coupon at Borders (YMMV)
Yesterday I was able to pick up Casino Royale and Hellboy for a total of $20 plus tax by using the $10 off (a purchase of $30) coupon. Both films are currently on sale for $14.99, and unlike the 33% off coupon, the $10 off coupon does not explicitly restrict items with "sale pricing." Of course, your mileage may vary!
I may go back and pick up Iron Man and one of the $12.99 BDs.

My cashier applied the coupon even though I was a couple pennies short. I actually suggested adding a piece of candy, but she went ahead and completed the transaction without it.

I picked up Superbad and The Hangover for $25 + Tax
Does anyone have a more complete list of the $14.99 titles?
Thank you

EDIT: Nevermind. I see it's $20. Now I'll just need to find something cheap.
EDIT #2: Ugh. I can't find any movies to partner up! It doesn't matter if they're movies, right? As long as the total is $30, I can get $10 off, right?

Re: 2 BDs for ~$20 w/ $10 off coupon at Borders (YMMV)
This is definately a case of YMMV. I went to the Borders store in Normal, IL today with the intention of picking up Iron Man and The Hangover and was told they would not honor the sale on Borders.com. I think the store price for Iron Man was over $40 which is just robbery. I put the stuff back on the shelf and walked out of the store, never to return. What a poor business model. I sent their website a nicely worded email descibing this (fully expecting they wouldn't do anything about it, but hey, it made me feel better) and this is the response I got back:
Thank you for writing to Borders Customer Care and expressing your concern. Feedback from valuable customers like you is important to us.
Borders stores usually sell titles at the publisher's recommended retail price. Though we often will discount a title, we never increase the price. Rather, retail establishments such as Tower Records, Best Buy, Sam's Club, etc., make such large purchases of books, music, and videos, that they qualify for greater discounts. Thus they are able to discount their prices a great deal to "undercut" the retail price as stated by the Publisher. They make large purchases for greater discounts and cut their own costs by not decorating their stores or providing a large number of staff. In this way, they, too, can "undercut" retail costs and still make a profit.
The same situation can be seen at various online or mail-order businesses. Titles purchased through our stores are sold at the publisher's recommended retail price. The normal discount a retailer gets off that price pays for things like the rent on the store building, shipping costs and the wages for the store employees. Online or mail-order businesses have much less overhead. Thus, they can offer a greater discount.
I regret that the practices of other companies would cause you confusion about the Borders' pricing policy. However, I hope this helps explain the difference in prices. Thank you for your time, and please let us know if you have other concerns.
Sincerely,
Jessica

Did you actually have the titles scanned and totaled? Printed price means nothing, and even scanned price if the discounts are subtracted after total.

very strange, sorry for your bad experience.
I thought that this sale was nationwide. I'm really surprised that it didn't scan at $19.99 each. maybe he scanned both and that added up to over $40 with tax included?
I also picked up Hancock and Casino Royale for $20 + Tax.

I hate that kind of pricing policy...especially when right there on the page you can check if a local store has it in stock. Sure they got in in stock, but not at the price you are looking at.
it's a little shady to me.

I laughed when I read her response. She basically said they have no intention of being competative in pricing and expect consumers to pay to shop in a prettier store.

Sorry to hear that you experienced trouble, Star Wars Guy.
Can anyone confirm that some of the BDs from the list are still on sale? There is a new $10 off coupon (see above).

Re: 2 BDs for ~$20 w/ $10 off coupon at Borders (YMMV)
Ok, now I'm mad (well, just midly upset). Based on feedback from you guys, I played a hunch and called the same Borders and had them scan Iron Man to confirm the price (got a really helpful guy on the phone this time) and guess what - $19.99! The previous clerk must have just walked away and then came back and either their system didn't show the correct price or he didn't actually scan it.
Next time I'll follow him up to the counter and watch him actually scan the thing. As it was, I was still undecided about what other Blu-ray I wanted to fulfill the $10 off coupon so I was still looking at the shelves. So much for 'paying that premium' for them to hire a competent staff to work in the store.

I was at my local store on Tuesday for a little bit and the $12.99/$14.99/$19.99 BD's were still marked on sale.
