Amazon's lightning deal hint for 8pm PST says "See the world in Blu", I was thinking it might be Planet Earth.

They are edited (about 4-5 minutes shorter per episode) and narrated, as noted, by Sigourney Weaver. I would hold off for the BBC versions, personally. Bought these on accident (same deal) last year.

That's interesting. I didn't know two version were available in the US. amazon.com shows "David Attenborough" as the narrator for their blu-ray version, although I don't know how you could know for sure which version they'll ultimately ship out.

Discovery Store had When We Left Earth (the HD NASA stuff) 4 disc BD set for $25 on black friday. Might still be available too.

It's easy enough. If you get it at any major retailer that isn't Discovery, you'll get the BBC (aka real) version. Order it from Discovery and you'll get the crappy version.

I got BBC UK version few months ago for $38 shipped. BBC US version still pricey.
