I have the Samsung BD-P1500 and P1590C and they are both great. Im sure the 1600 is just as good and I hear its faster loading than the two i have.

For $150 + two free blu-rays this is A good deal.

I'm was going to buy a multi-region blu-ray player, but I rather have this one for now.

Added
Seems like Samsung is not so good in the firmware updates reading high def forum.

[I have been a very happy owner of a bd-p 1600 for quite sometime now. when i bought it, it was still 329.99 and i still think it was worth the 329 cost.
trust me 150 and 2 free new release blurays is to good to pass up.

I havnet had any issues with Samsungs firmware updates. THey seem to be on top of things for the 15xx series so far. New updates come out pretty quick. Only had one issue with an update but they fixed it in 2 days. Somehow they made a new update that killed lionsgates menus from loading.

even at 199 with 2 free movies thats still a great price. I bought this player when it was 329.00 and would happily buy it at that price again let alone at a great price like 199.99

Ditto, at $199 and 2 Free BR, it was a deal. I watched this thing go from $199>$189>$150, then I struck on this bad boy and picked up South Park S.12 BR and got the UP BR with FREE Steelcase, what a deal!

Not really. The Panasonic DMP-BD60K is $127.95 from beachcamera on eBay. $117.71 after bing's 8% back. That's a big price jump just to get 2 'free' movies. I almost jumped on this sale when it started and the BD-1600 was at $150 + 2 movies, but it's just not worth the difference in price. You're still paying for the movies, plus your local state sales tax at Best Buy.

I dont have any experience with ththe panasonic player you mention and dont know any of its abilities or the quality of the machine. however iam very familar with the bd-p1600 which i have owned since day one it was available. I paid 329.99 when it was released, and like i said i would happily pay 329.99 for it again, so yeah considering that, i have to say to me 199.99 is a excellent price for the bd-p 1600 even with out any free movies included. my comment is based on months of in-house use in which i have never had any playback issues or problems of any sort, that experience right there makes me say yeah 199.99 is an awesome price for the bd-p 1600

Re: Samsung BD-1600 Player plus Two Free BDs $150 at Best Buy

I have been considering that BD p1600 bluray player, but every time I research it, I get turned off by the negative reviews at places like Cnet and Amazon, where consumers claim the unit just quit working after a short period of time or after updating firmware or requires an expensive, hard-to-get dongle to make the unit wireless, noisy unit, slow-loading, etc.

It seems like ALL players have at least a few of these negative reviews though, so I can't be sure if just a few people got bad models or if it's just not possible to get a unit that will last for under $200. I do like the ability to stream things like Netflix and Pandora, and wireless connectivity. My local Best Buy had a Samsung BD P3600 open box for $250 last Friday (when RZ members could get an additional 10% off open box and clearance items) and I considered getting it for $225, not much more than this model, but wasn't sure if the wireless dongle was included with this open item or, if for about $75 more a PS3 wouldn't be a better option. I guess I should wait for some good bluray player deals on or after Black Friday.
