It's Back! 30% off Used Blu-Rays at Hastings

Hastings now shows its "Buy 2, Get 3rd for $1" is now only for used DVD's, and for Blu's instead it's now once again 30% off used Blu-Rays.

HOWEVER, even going through their "qualifying titles" link and adding those to my cart, nothing is showing the discount, and I see no promotion code to enter. So if anyone actually gets this to work, please let us all know!

crap, and I just put in 2 orders yesterday! Oh well, I probably only paid a couple of bucks extra (when facting in the 2 shipping charges).

Heading over now to look at my wish-list

I don't think there's a code this time. The prices seem about 30% off of what I saw yesterday in the price shown.

thats what i thought, but the math doesnt work out in many cases. if thats the case, the prices arent low enough for me to do any more orders.. not with Hastings' shipping charges.

I just came close on a few titles, but factoring shipping/tax the few titles that I haven't bought just aren't good enough right now to pull the trigger. I guess I'll just wait and see if a code does come out on top of the prices (kinda like how the warner deal a couple months ago just kept getting better and better).

Re: It's Back! 30% off Used Blu-Rays at Hastings

Amadeus (digibook) $8.53
A Bug's Life $14.49
The Incredible Hulk $7.73
Kung Fu Panda $8.63
Paprika $13.62
Role Models $6.80
Serenity $8.75
The Sixth Sense $13.29

$97.79 shipped or $12.23 each
Not GREAT but considering the normal average price on some of the titles I got, not bad either.

Re: It's Back! 30% off Used Blu-Rays at Hastings

I think the prices listed are the discounted prices. I got excited when I saw Band of Brothers for $37 bucks, but then realized that the $37 is the price after the discount.

This promotion is also running in store. I was excited since I could avoid their high shipping charges. Unfortunately, almost all their blu-rays are priced in store as $19.99 for used. I wanted the Underworld Rise of the Lycans and it was $19.99 used in store! I did find independance day for $16, and got the discount.

Hastings just continues to suck, IMO. I saw used copies of West Wing for $33 bucks. How do they ever move stock like that?

Re: It's Back! 30% off Used Blu-Rays at Hastings

I'm looking right now at 5 different Blu's I was interested in, and not ONE of them is showing 30% off. They are all marked on sale, but it only comes to 20-25% off. False advertising, I say! (and yes, they are listed under "qualifying" titles)

HA, I just saw those earlier today as well. Tough call, but ultimately I had to pass...

How are you figuring out that they're only 20-25% off? Am I missing something that shows the original price, or do you just know what they all were before the 30% off started?

Re: It's Back! 30% off Used Blu-Rays at Hastings

It show the used item's list/regular price, then in red the "sale" price; and in the ones I was looking at the difference was less than 30%. SO unless their normal selling price is HIGHER than the list price, there's no way the 30% works.

Sorry, but that's not how Hastings does things.
And yes, sometimes their sell prices are higher than their list prices.
Recently, they had a used PS2 game listed at $57.35, but the "list price," which has no real meaning when it comes to their used titles, since there is no "list price" on a used title, and their prices are, 99% of the time, lower than that, was only $35.99. However, for the short time that the sell price was higher than $35.99, the "list price" of $35.99 was not displayed.

I noticed this because I download my wishlist almost every day and sort it in a spreadsheet looking for any sudden price changes that have made something a must-get. That one stood out because of the really high price. It was probably a typo, since the price is now $27.35.

The 30% comes off what they were selling for before the sale started.
So, for example, something that is now $14.00 was $20.00 a few days ago, before the sale started. It has nothing to do with the "list price," and never does.

Basically, you're looking at a poor site design, not an incorrectly calculated sale price.

This 30% becomes harder to see as time progresses because they really use supply and demand pricing for their used stuff. Once they sell a few of something, the price goes up. And if something doesn't sell for a while, the price drops.

Yes, their prices change frequently. The titles I bought this morning were priced higher yesterday (both during the sale).

Tried all day yesterday to get John Adams to come up, but it gives me an error message. Anyone able to add this to their shopping cart?

Re: It's Back! 30% off Used Blu-Rays at Hastings

I had a bad experience ordering from their last 30% with a handful of SD's.

Thought I might try my hand at the Blu-Ray's, mostly because many of the posters here reported their discs coming in great shape.

Having the prices fluctuate so frequently is annoying. Dawn Of The Dead dropped to a price I'd pick it up at, only to see the 3 other titles I wanted manage to double their price in a matter of 30 minutes.

I don't know why they are still advertising the sale, it's clearly over.

I just checked my wishlist this morning and some blu's have doubled overnight, and others have gone up at least 30%.

It could also be that they just changed the titles that are on sale as I see a whole bunch at lower prices as well, just nothing I am interested in or I already own.

Wow, you're right. They now want $19.99 used for Underworld : ROTL. Screw you, Hastings.
