I picked up White Men Can't Jump (exclusive) for $7.88 today. I was quite pleased, as I had forgotten it was released a couple months ago and heard it was tough to find. My store had about six.

I went to Walmart today and couldn't find the 7.88 bin. Is it usually hidden in a different section or are there just some stores that don't have one? Really want to grab Wonka.

Every store seems to have it in a different location. I've seen them in the adjoining camera/electronics area as well

While digging through the 7.88 bin today I discovered that some of the Echo Bridge/Miramax double features have now been wrapped with 2 double features (4 films) for $7.88. I don't remember anything other than Equilibrium/Renaissance with The Yards/The Lookout (which I got) and Halloween 6/7 and Hellraiser Bloodline/Inferno.

Echo Bridge is improving, at least they're using dual-layer discs for the recent double features. Still don't know if they have included 5.1 sound on the Alan Smithee masterpiece "Hellraiser: Bloodline" though. It's a travesty the first Blu-Ray didn't include it, as it was my first movie to use it ;)

One set had Blindness and Proof as two of the four, another had Jane Eyre and similar films iirc.

And in the other, other movie, he's fighting zombies. That's why the Gettysburg Address is so short. Gent, didn't have any time for that presidential stuff.

Picked up the Walmart Exclusive Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Two-Disc Special/Big Screen/IMAX Edition BD (w/ slipcover) for $5. Weird that right beside it the DVD version of it is still selling for $21.96.

Both Transformers ROTF and Star Trek 2009 BDs have been disappearing and reappearing at various Walmarts for $5 over the last 1-2 years. I've seen them at least 3 different times many months apart and the $5 BDs are always next to the more expensive DVDs.

Tonight I bought...

-Army of Darkness
-Batman Beyond
-Red - Special Edition
-Stand By Me

I could have bought so many more. I saw the 4-packs, and lots of other stuff. I had a time narrowing it down to just those four.

People are going to want to check out the $7.88 bargain bins this week. Dozens of new and different BDs are showing up as part of the quarterly reset from all of the major studios except Disney. They also now include a UV code.

Thanks for the list. I'll be on the lookout for the Bonds since I already have Casino, Quantum, and Skyfall and didn't have the money to jump on the Bond 50 set when it was $100.

I really like those (huge Sean Connery fan but I don't want to go crazy on Bond releases as far as shelf space goes). Though I have very little faith in my Walmart actually having those. We'll see. Maybe this time next year there will be a Daniel Craig three pack, that would be nice to see. (For me, I really only like the Sean Connery and Daniel Craig Bonds. Odd I know.)

That's the nice thing: These triple-features are in one standard sized Blu-ray package, so the three movies take up the same shelf space as one individual Blu-ray!

For some reason, they don't appear on Walmart.com at present but I'd be surprised if these were a YMMV thing.

There is a Craig double-feature release of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace already. Walmart now offers an HD Vudu copy of QoS with it if you buy it from them.

Not odd at all, except I think you might want to revisit the Timothy Dalton era. His two movies are often overlooked and dismissed as "dour", but that's largely a stigma tagged onto his two movies from audiences accustomed to the Roger Moore era. I've been saying since 2006, Timothy Dalton was panned for doing 20 years earlier what Daniel Craig has been praised for doing today.

+1 to the appeal of Timothy Dalton too. Unfortunately overlooked and underrated. He needed an extended spell prior to commencing the cartoonishness of Brosnan. LD and LTK are two of the best Bonds IMO - of course, opinions are always subjective, this is a post to join the company of those that find Dalton a great Bond

Unfortunately no go at my local wally. I'm not going to go crazy like I did trying to find the TMNT blu triple feature (which is easy to find now of course), so I'll bide my time until I see it. My wife did however find Queen of the Damned and Friday the 13th Uncut in the $7.88 blu bin, so at least somebody is happy I guess :). Curious question, has anybody seen Just Cause in the $7.88 bin? It was released around the same time as QOTD I believe and I've been wanting to grab it at the ~$10 mark for a while.

Point taken, I do remember those two pretty well. I might revisit them once I get these two triples. Thanks for the tip :)

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Dalton was indeed the original Craig version of Bond, if that convoluted statement makes sense. He read, studied and admired all of Fleming's Bond novels and was by far the most knowledgeable actor to interpret the character of Bond. He was also the only classically trained actor to play the part. His two films are superb.

Connery is my favorite, then a tie with Dalton and Craig and then Lazenby. Moore and Brosnan had their moments, but the directions the series took in their time never gave them a chance to shine.

Mike86 03-16-13 07:29 PM

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I'm always glad to see Timothy Dalton get recognition for his two Bond films. Personally for me his two are up there with the best of the franchise. Personally for me I'd say it's Connery, Craig, and Dalton as the best actors to portray Bond.

I liked Brosnan growing up but his films really haven't aged the best. Moore's films are okay for being campy but I have to be in the right mood for them. Lazenby I didn't care for, maybe because he only had one time as Bond and I just never adjusted to his style but his take on the character didn't do much for me.

Didn;t see mention of this yet... Wally has a skid with MC for GI Joe. Titles I remember:
GI Joe: Rise of Cobra
Transformers
Top Gun
Hunt for Red October
Clear and Present Danger
Mission Impossible 1-3
Super 8
and I am sure I am missing some. Discs were $9.97 w/ $7.50 movie cash. Interesting to note that M:I 1-3 are also in the $7.88 bin.
