Found Freddy vs Jason, both Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1975 and 2003, Halloween, and Evil Dead 2. Didn't see Big Trouble in Little China

No Freddy vs. Jason or Big Trouble here, but I did find a copy of Polanski's The Ninth Gate.

I thought that I was the only one. I assume that someone saw it at Wally World for $9.99.

I'm pretty sure that the OP who brought up Big Trouble... just was looking to buy it; Wal-Mart's website lists it for $18.xx whereas all the Anchor Bay / Starz titles that are showing up in stores for $10.00 are $12.xx.

Picked up Evil Dead II; wasn't too thrilled with the transfer (I own the LE Tin from five plus years ago). Not interested in Halloween as the Blu uses the same print the Divimax used and has none of the extras of the Divimax edition; but I'd be interested in picking up Day of the Dead if it was carried in-stores.

Saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Freddy vs. Jason there as will; may go back to pick them up.

TCM 2003 or the original? $10?

$12.99 actually, but that's still a good price. Hasn't shown up at mine yet.

I've never owned a copy - so I'd definitely grab the Blu-ray if I can find a good deal on it.

You're probably right about the print, but the copy of Halloween on Blu that I picked up had most of the special features from the Divimax.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

The Halloween Blu-ray has most of the special features that are on the 25th Anniversary Divimax DVD, incluing the 90 minute documentary and the Criterion commentary.

It is missing the short "On Location" featurette and the poster/still gallery.

Not a huge loss since the commentary and the documentary are the big guns on that edition, though it's sort of aggravating for collectors who need to have everything.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I picked up the Halloween BD last week and its a most welcome upgrade over the divimax edition. Glad I could sell my divimax one to FYE for $5.50 so it was a cheap BD and worth every penny. Now only if Part 2 would come to BD.

I ended up picking up FvJ at Best Buy for $12.99 since I couldn't find one Wal-Mart around me that had it.

On the note of Halloween, I won a copy at Flashback Weekend last year from the Anchor Bay table, it was pretty cool. I thought the picture was pretty good.

I finally found FvJ for $10 last night, and seen the $15 Silverado digibook release there also. I hope someone here sets up that $10 endcap as there are a few I would grab off there.

I snapped a couple crappy phone pics of the $10 endcap. Easier than trying to remember them all. Flyboys was tempting.

Hey Snowmaker! Are those all $10? If so, I think I see Rescue Dawn in the upper right corner of the second pick. I may have to jump on that.

Since we live in the same are, what store was this?? :)

Man you have got to get a better camera. Flyboys is definately worth the $10. Like many of them based on a true story, not really historically acurate but an entertaining movie especially for $10

Figures, just hit the one at M-59 and Mound. They didn't have HALF of these titles. BTW, thanks for the Title List! I'll have to hit the other one on my way home today.

JimRochester 09-18-09 01:19 PM

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Just stopped by one near here and I don't think they had 40 BR titles out total let alone a $10 rack like this.

Rescue Dawn is a GREAT film, and the Blu-ray has excellent PQ/AQ. It's a great deal at $10. Anyone thinking about getting it should consider it a good option IMHO.

Van Helsing is $13.86 at Walmart.com this morning. Took a printout of the ad to price match at Best Buy successfully.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Gonna have to check out Walmart in my area today. Ill pick up Van Helsing at that price. Just got back from Phoenix and almost all of the walmarts I went to already had TCM2003 out for $14. Was going to get it but the $9.99 preorder from BB is a better deal. Didnt see the old TCM yet and would love to pick that one up with some of these other $10 ones if i can find them.

Matthew Chmiel 09-20-09 01:02 PM

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Had to go to two Wal-Marts to find Freddy vs. Jason and TCM (2003) in-stock and snagged them both for $10 (as I just unloaded the DVDs at Zia yesterday morning).

Ended up at four Wal-Marts throughout the day yesterday and none have the $10 end-cap. Some have a few $10 BDs, but none that I specifically want.

With Van Helsing being cheap, I'm hoping that Wal-Mart gives us a Halloween sale on BD titles this year in addition to DVDs.

The one on Henry Street. I avoid the one on Sherman like the plague. :)

I've never been to either of them, I'm rarely in Muskegon. I take it the one on Sherman is pretty bad?

I think its been posted before, but I saw the 2 disc CE of Casino Royale for $14.96. I checked Best Buy, and they have it for $29.99. It looks like a good deal to me.
