Now that you mention it neither did I.

I did see two boxes filled with empty blu cases that I was glad to take home with me to replace all my BBV tall cases.

Ok, besides the MGM Hitchcock's, are there any other items of note?

My Costo did their famous clean out.
All the 3D Disney Blu-Rays magically disappeared over night.
It seems the Blu-Ray collection has once again been cut in half.

I don't want to make a trip if it is the same old stuff.

Some catalog titles at a decent price, and a few new releases for $25 (wow, what a deal).

They have the first wave of the Award Series (Cold Mountain, Piano, Shakespeare in Love, English Patient) for $8.99 each.

I went yesterday and saw the past Oscar winners.
Pretty good prices.
They also brought back the the Disney 3D blue at a new lower price, $24.99 (used to be $31.99).
Transformers - Bark At The Moon 3D was $24.99 also.

I snagged 'Annie Hall,' 'The Apartment,' and 'Manhattan' for $9.99 each during my weekly wine run. They also had 'Midnight Cowboy' mixed in amongst those titles (also $9.99.) Still plenty of Hitchcocks, but there seemed to be fewer copies of 'Notorious' (which makes perfect sense to me.)

Can't wait to get THE APARTMENT, one of my all time faves. I hope the reviews are good.

They have plenty of copies of NOTORIOUS, REBECCA and SPELLBOUND at the Hawthorne, CA Costco (and THE PIANO, ENGLISH PATIENT, etc.), but no APARTMENT, alas.

Found all 3 NY based films today , The Apartment, Annie Hall, and Manhattan . They also had Midnight Cowboy for the same price, $9.99, I guess it's a NY based promo.

Thanks for the heads up on the Woody Allen discs. Looks like I'll be headed to Costco this weekend.

I meant all the films are set in New York, not that the prices for the films were only available in New York Costcos.

So do any of your stores still have the Hitchcocks available? I'm hoping to check one out today. I haven't been able to get to Costco the past few weeks.

All the Hitchcocks were in North Seattle (Shoreline). I had Rebecca in my hands then decided to put it on my birthday list.

You better not wait around too long, because a couple of the Costcos that had them last week were out of stock this week.

Good call. I ended up finding all three in Harrisburg PA today. I also picked up Annie Hall and The Apartment. There were still more of all of them left.

re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Saw three of the triple-packs that were at Target and Walmart at my Costco today. Point of No Return/Domino/Long Kiss Goodnight, Red Planet/2010/Contact, and 300/Troy/Alexander DC for $14.99 each. (Picked up the girls-with-guns pack. Wish they had the Se7en/Copycat/Taking Lives set.)

re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Was at Costco tonight and found a lonely Se7en/Copycat/Taking Lives set. They have them scattered all over, mixed in with Real Steel BDs. It's as if someone vandalized the place and mixed stuff around. Weird.

Other triple-packs seen:

* Twister/Poseidon/The Perfect Storm
* The Searchers/The Wild Bunch/How the West Was Won
* Watchmen/V For Vendetta/Constantine

Saw that when I was in Costco over the weekend (picked up the two Woody Allen BDs). Hopefully raises some awarenes on Ghibli titles and moves us closer to more Blu-ray releases.

re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I enjoyed most of the Studio Ghibli movies (though I can't say I cared much for The Cat Returns or Porco Russo). I even liked Ponyo though a lot of people said it wasn't very good. However, animated movies like these beg for Blu-Ray, and given that I held off buying the DVDs because Disney always kept them so overpriced (IMHO), I'm waiting for all of the Studio Ghibli movies on Blu-Ray at the $15-$20 price point. If they come out with coupons, then I'd be more likely to buy on release week. They did it with Nausicaa so I got that on BD (still in shrinkwrap).

So, unless the existing Studio Ghibli DVDs were $5, I'd rather save my money for the Blu-Rays. Unfortunately I'm thinking Disney is going to take their SWEET slow time releasing them. Thankfully I know someone with a Studio Ghibli DVD collection that I could borrow if I ever get the urge to watch one, but I've got so much other stuff to watch first that it probably doesn't matter.

If you don't care about the English dub, there are several Region A Studio Ghibli Blu-rays from Hong Kong that are excellent and already available. I doubt Disney bothers releasing more than a couple of the older Studio Ghibli movies on Blu-ray.
