I'm a huge fan of Evangelion and El Hazard so the fact that this anime has huge giant robots and is by the people who do Tenchi Muyo is intriguing. But I'd like to hear what other people think (plots, animation, characters, dubbing etc) before I go out and start buying up the DVDs. Thanks.

I watch a great deal of anime. I also don't like mecha or giant robot anime. I haven't seen any Tenchi either. That said, I like this Dual. I have the first 2 volumes and it's kinda fun. The giant robot scenes don't take up the whole story... they are the focus really, but this is more about how these people relate with each other. Very well put together. Storylines are decent. Not my favorite anime by any stretch, but I'm going to continue to get more.

So far so good
Although I'm reluctant to comment on an unfinished series, I will say that as of disk 3, this one is a lot of fun.
The character and mechanical designs are very pleasing, and many "tips of the hat" to other series can be seen (Tenchi Muyo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Bubblegum Crisis are some that I recognize.) There is a lot of CG, but it is very well done. I usually only listen to the Japanese with subtitles, so I can't say much about the dub. Spot checks didn't make me cringe if that helps.
The story starts to gel in the third disk and very early reports from those who have seen the original broadcast indicate that it finishes well. I'll be getting the fourth disk when it's released.
The opening song is one of my favorites and makes me wish I had an "11" on the volume control.
