I had an installer for DISH Network come yesterday to install their dish but thet couldn't find a line of sight because of the trees.

I want to get rid of cable so how is Direct TV ?

Am I better off going directly thru them at their 800 # or going to Ciruit City or Best Buy to get it ?

You may very well not be able to get a line of sight for Direct TV either - if you can't for DISH.

I've had DISH before, and now have Direct TV. I'll take DISH!

I asked the installer if I could get Direct TV and he said he use to work for Direct TV and it should be no problem because their satellite is higher and faces a different direction than DISH does.

I bought my Direct TV after shopping around all the B&M's and really liked the pricing for it over Dish. I was able to get the dish free and got 2 receivers on a 2 for 1 deal. They came out and hook it up within a week and I haven't any complaints since.

Definalty shop around cause you can find some amazing deals on pricing.

This is like the Ford and Chevy argument. I have DirectTV and love it. I have heard good things about both.

DirecTv's not too bad, the pricing and programming is pretty comparable to dish. You can get a receiver at wal-mart for about $49 so the equipment is pretty cheap too.

right now, if you buy new equipment and have it professionally installer, pay your first month with a cc and committ to a package for a year you can get a rebate for up to $200 (depending on the package you subscribe to, the least expensive $200 rebate package is $49.99)

I love my Directv. I hope I never have to go back to cable again. My only complaint is that they don't carry the WB.

There's a similar thread about this in Other Bargains that might be of some help:

Easy, go over to the tree and chop it down.

I use to have DirecTV, I really don't care for them. Their customer service wasn't too pleasant. So, I switched to Dish Network and have been loving it. Dish was also cheaper because you get more channels in the packages.

True, but like Trelach24 said - NO SPORTS PACKAGES.

I could care less about sports packages. Only sport I watch is Hockey, only Pittsburgh Penguin games, and I get Fox SPorts Pittsburgh and ESPN in my package and locals.

Dish is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than DirecTV.

If you live in the right cities -- or hack your card, dss does indeed carry WB.

I agree. With TDN, you can get TEN for $19.99 per month. Not the same with DTV ... $7.99 per 90 minute block.
