Anyone know what's the deal with Blockbuster Video and Radio Shack?Does it have anything to do with Blockbuster proposed "rental pricing " of DVD?Is this a merger! I have not set foot in either place so what's the deal with this and Radio Shack?Anybody know anything at all this and what's is all about? Should we as owners of DVD players, members of this board etc be concerned?

Blockbuster is looking for something to fill the space they are going to make when they eliminate 30-40% of their VHS backstock. The new rental income stream will more than offset the loses from people looking for Evil Dead II on tape. After all, they can buy backlist tapes for less than $15, most likely.

The move to a "subscription" plan also warrants pause. With a fixed income stream, BB will have to make up the money elsewhere. Nothing like cutting out some dead wood.

No, it's a "you got your chocolate in my peanutbutter! Well you got your peanutbutter on my chocolate!" type of thing.

Many renters are movie freaks with home theaters. Many renters find out, "Aw crap, I need a new xxxx and it's 10:40pm at night."

By placing a RS that specializes in home theater/video inside BB, it kind of makes it a one stop shopping kind of deal.
