For me, it's NBC (watching the election, the presidential inauguration, etc..) I will switch over to ABC and CNN every now and then, but don't pay attention to CBS

I work for an affiliate (I won't say which one), but I have found that CNN and MSNBC both always seem to have the most extensive coverage of a breaking news event. Since they are not one of the four major networks, they are able to devote more time and resources to any given story. Maybe it's just me, but I just feel they both do a great job. Just my 2 cents.

They're very establishment oriented but at least it's a broader spectrum of the establishment than the others.

Fox News is just as biased as CNN, there bias jusrt leans the other way. Please lets not argue that Fox is bias, cause its not!
Having little tolerance for any of the major choices, I just pick up the highlights (lowlights) from Bloomberg or CNN Headline news.

CNN. I don't find it as far to the left as much as FoxNews is to the right. CNN loves Clinton, but loving Clinton and being leftist are not the same thing.

The reason I like FoxNews, is because they actually show both sides of a story, unlike CNN, CBS, NBC, or ABC. FoxNews is the only network giving Bush a fair chance to be the President, and is the only network which was not involved in a Gore or Bush love fest during the campaign.
I watched the inauguration primarily on FoxNews, but flipped to CNN a few times. All CNN would talk about was the pro-Gore protesters or what Clinton was going to do next in his life. FoxNews stayed focued on President Bush.
FoxNews is the number 1 rated cable news channel for a reason, and I believe that reason is because they actually report all sides of stories, and people are sick and tired of the pro-left wing news you see on the aforementioned stations.

I don't think you need to be a political science expert to realize that leftist and Clinton don't belong in the same sentence. Karl Marx was a leftist. Lenin was a leftist. Heck, maybe even Ted Kennedy is a leftist, but Bill Clinton surely is not a leftist.

I remember the morning when Elian Gonzales was "retrieved" from his home. I watched several channels that morning, and whether you believed the govt was right or wrong, Fox was the first station to have images of Elian at gunpoint and was questioning the tactics -- all the other coverage sucked in comparison. Everyone else was posturing, tons of talking heads, but Fox was (in their usual exploitative fashion) bringing all the news and images they could. I don't bother with the other networks anymore.

Of course they were the first to question the raid. The Republicans were the ones who wanted Elian to stay in the country and even grant him citizenship. The Republicans were continually criticizing the Clinton/Reno policy on this affair. What Fox did (assuming your above potrayal of their coverage is correct) is blatent posturing (and bias) as well.

I'm a conservative Republican, but I find the overwhelming right-wing tilt of Fox News a little too much. I get that from talk radio. For news, I like a lot less spin, and I like to see more of a balance between left and right pundits and news anchors. They're almost all conservative at Fox. The last time I watched was after the first debate when all 4 pundits who commented on the action and one of the two news anchors (Brit Hume) was a well-known conservative. That was too much, even for me!
I prefer PBS's Lehrer Report for news and political coverage. And I love C-SPAN, of course. For breaking news (the original question in this thread), I have to say nobody beats CNN; they simply do it the best.
