I've just added a center channel speaker to my system and was wondering what would be a good DVD to use to test the speaker balance etc. Thanks in advance for replies.

Test tones?
Seriously, I was having trouble before I officially had mine calibrated, but oddly enough, for DD 5.1, the opening bits of Apocalypse Now were my test..if you can hear the 'copters smoothly fly over and around..good set up.
It sounded crappy at first, now I FEEL the damn things.

I used what I had readily available, which happened to be a newly-purchased Patton DVD. Ended up watching the entire movie. Mine didn't sound right til I dinked around with the setup on the DVD/processor, and the center channel disappeared into the sound field. That's why I was wondering about other sources, with good lr effects.

Saving Ryan's Privates - the beach scene.
Or better yet, get Avia. I picked up a copy at half.com for $25, and found it much better to use to calibrate my speakers (and video) than Video Essentials.
