Right now I have a passive RCA 100 watt sub that seemed okay to me when I had my RCA set-up. Since it broke, I need a new reciever and have been looking at HTIB,seperate receivers, and also toyed with getting the Sony 120 watt SAWM40.

I am looking at a few HTIB, and they come with 50 watt powered subs.

Am I better off with my old 100 watt passive and a good reciever?

Should I keep my old speakers and just get a new DTS reciever and a really good Sub?

I am not knowledgable in audio, ecven the phrase 'reverse phase' confuses me. I just want to enjoy DTS and 5.1 as good as possible.

This sytem is for a 10 by 14 room. And I live in a townhome with neighbors.

Any help, ideas or solutions would really help.

Thanks!
