Being new to HT, I have a couple of basic questions.
With at 35" TV, what should be the approximate spacing on the front left and right speakers. I seem to remember hearing there was a calculation for this, but I can't find it.
I assume rears are "to taste" as far as spacing as long as they are to the side of the optimum listenting postion.
Thanks.

Fronts also are pretty much to taste with the exception of needing to be at least 6 feet apart for separation and to give the center isolation as well.

You should also keep them away from the front wall. Most speakers are designed to sound best in free space. So, start by keeping the front baffle about a meter away.
Speakers also sound better if they are placed ahead of the tv. With more room, speakers can "construct" the proper soundstage. Try it both ways and see what sounds better to you.

Your left speaker, right speaker, and your primary listening position should form a perfect trianlge. For example, if your speakers are placed 8 feet apart, then your seating location, which is the top of the triangle, should be 8 foot from the left speker and 8 foot from the right speaker. This way you can get proper imaging. Also, slightly angle your speakers towards your "sweet spot" listening position. As far as rear placement goes, the debate rages on. Some say they should be on the rear wall, some say on the sides, some say ear level and others say above ear level. I've never been able to find a consistent consensus on this one. I prefer on the sides, 2-3 feet behind me and 2-3 feet above my ears and once again slightly angled in.
