SONY RECEIVER 5.1 Problem

I hooked my Sony reciever with included sony speakers(front,center,and back and sunb)exactly as it says in the manual(avs from dvd player(5.1) to reciever(5.1)). Cinema surround and everything else works except for 5.1, maybe i overlooked something, can anyone help? maybe someone ho has the same set up...

Check the settings on the DVD player to be sure that dd 5.1 is the default. Also make sure that you have a digital connection between the two (optical or coaxal). Just in case which model # is it, I have the db-940 and love it.

Ok if I am reading you correctly you said you connected the av's. By that I am assuming you mean the analog red and white audio cords, and the yellow video cord. To get 5.1 you have to use an optical(toslink) cord, or you have to use the coaxial out.
