Has Charlie Hunnam already blown his chance at movie stardom ?
just rewatched quite a bit of SOA and was looking up what Charlie was upto
He has some upcoming movies which aren't that big
He had chances in Pacific Rim and King Arthur to show his star power and i guess he has blown it

IMO, he’s a good looking guy but can’t act for shit.
I’m sure he’ll pick some chick flick to star in and be back on top with women viewers. I can also see him getting another tv drama to star in.

He put the RIM in Pacific Rim.
Have no idea what that means. I don't think he's been in a movie yet where he needs to show any real acting skills. That and the movies he's chosen to be in so far, although personally I like Pacific Rim and that King Arthur movie he made. Maybe he'll go the Matthew McConaughey route and do some romantic comedies that tank, then change up to serious stuff where he'll have to rely on acting. Then we'll see if he's good or not.

He needs to reteam with Apatow or Seth Rogen ASAP and get one or two good comedies in as the straight man. That could help with working back up to good leading roles.

But to answer the question of the thread. He never had a chance. He’s not that good. I liked earlier things he was in, but SOA ruined him. Overrated show and he was shit on it.

Most tv people don't really become movie stars unless they wander into a vehicle that launches their film career. Think Bruce Willis and Diehard. It really has to be sort of a perfect storm to make them movie stars... the right movie, the right character, the right time.

Beat me to it ...
Oh yeah! I loved him as Wonderboy in The Natural!
He also had a quick, but devastating, cameo in Hereditary. The spoiler below isn't an actual pic from the movie, but you'll get it ...

Charlie's a good looking guy, but he's not a great actor.
You're not going to see top Producers or directors cast him in their Academy Award hopeful movie. he has his fans.
He will get work. So I don't think you need to be concerned whether or not he's going to be able to pay his rent.

He famously walked away from the role of Christian Grey, so he's clearly no dummy.

I never had a desire to see this series.
I grew up around bikers and had no desire to see a TV-rated B.S. version.
He's had 2 big budget movies "Pacific Rim" and "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword"

TV rated? Sons of Anarchy is borderline R rated TV.
There’s graphic language, sex and violence in it.

As for Charlie, he should have been in more films but the show definitely took that away from him. Then his choices afterwards were not great yet he chose too few; at that point he should have just been in anything to get exposure.

Apparently he's starring in a remake of Papillon coming out this month for some reason.

I only saw an episode or two of Sons of Anarchy, otherwise I only really know him from Pacific Rim. He was ok in that, but I imagine he missed his chance of being a big star since the hype around SoA is gone. Unless he gets attached to something else that brings him some attention.

He blew it by dropping his accent for Pacific Rim. That movie would have been twice as good if he didn’t sound like a half-asleep Keanu.

It's been years since I've seen it, but I seem to remember thinking he was good in Cold Mountain, though it wasn't a big role.
He's also well known as one of the leads on the original BBC version of Queer as Folk.
