Anyone seeing this tomorrow? I think I’m gonna get to see Monday. Up to 97% with like 75 or so reviews in...

Also do you think watching Rogue Nation again would be a good idea? Or perhaps action overload?

I’ll be seeing a 7PM EST showing at my local Dolby Cinema. Been looking forward to this since the first teaser was released. Easily my most anticipated film of the year after Infinity War.

Yes, you should probably see Rogue Nation before it, since most the of cast from that movie is in this one. This looks the most like a direct sequel versus any of the others in the series. Maybe don’t watch RN on the same day if you’re worried about action overload.

This is supposed to be a direct sequel to Rogue Nation.

Re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (McQuarrie, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thre

Just finished watching this, and damn, what a fun time at the movies this was!

Was it the best M:I movie? I was so caught up in the moment with a lot of stunts/action sequences that I’m not sure. These last three films in the series have been the most fun so far (I still like what the first one did as far as setting up this franchise). I don’t think this will disappoint anyone who’s a fan of this franchise. I know I had a goofy grin throughout most of the movie.

The cast is as fun as ever. Cavill was a nice addition. And I personally found the climax and the ending to be one of the best if not the best in the series. High marks all around. I would even see it again in theaters.

Re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (McQuarrie, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thre

Just got back from my screening -- it was great. I'll probably need to see it once more at the show to take it al in. I do think Rogue Nation is slightly better. I did not like that this one didn't end with an extended bit of dialogue/scenery like Rogue Nation did. That one actually showed you what happened to Jeremey Renner (who is not in this one at all) and they fucking killed off Alec Baldwin's character. So much for that.

I think Vanessa Kirby is stunning. She sort of reminded me of Lady GaGa. It was also great to see Ferguson and the rest of the crew. I can see why they wanted to keep Cavill's mustache. It rocks.

EDIT - Please don't come into this spoilers thread if you have not seen the movie. I do not put spoiler tags on my spoilers in a spoilers thread. FYI

Maybe the best of the franchise so far.

It's funny to me how much I love this series now. I say this because I didn't much like the first three. 1-3 were blah to me at best. But 4-6? Wowza! This franchise has turned into a runaway train filled with a cargo of awesome sauce and cases of cans of whoop-ass!

Holy shit, what a movie. It's almost too much. Which isn't abad thing when there's action and tension concurrently. It's a very fast 2.5 hours

Will be working up a full review later, but wow, the best one, it logically continued what started in Rogue Nation, tied into EVERY previous installment in both subtle and non-subtle ways, had twists I did not see coming, and so much more. And the action... They must have covered at least half of Paris during the THREE major chase scenes. The last 30 minutes were incredible.

Almost... almost too much action. Henry Cavill is a delight. The final helicopter sequence is amazing. Puts CGI films to shame.

Tom Cruise trained for 2,000 hours to learn to fly the helicopter:

Re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (McQuarrie, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thre

Saw it this afternoon, what a thrill ride. Everyone is talking about the exhilarating helicopter battle (rightfully so), but man the Paris car/motorcycle stuff was amazing as well. Hope we get another one.

Also, don't know how many people will have caught this, but the White Widow is the daughter of the first movie's villain. I thought that was a nice easter egg/bit of world building that probably went unnoticed by a lot of people.

I'm really curious what Tom Cruise's insurance costs are on these movies.

That movie was mind blowingly good...due to all the stunts and set pieces.

I hope they still have a few more movies left in the series.

Still like Ghost Protocol the best, overall, but this was by far the most "FUN".

Re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (McQuarrie, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thre

Loved it. Probably the most exciting, if not best of the 3 movies after the original trilogy.

Awesome action and some great hand to hand combat sequences, especially the restroom scene in the club. Henry Cavill was actually a pretty good villain. Plus he was such a arrogant douche too. The helicopter chase sequence was exhilarating to watch. Plus, loved the sequences in Paris.

I don't know how Tom Cruise continues to do this at his age and remain so youthful. He could easily pass for someone in his 40's.

It did suck that they killed off Baldwin's secretary. But, he went out like a man.

Also, I'm glad that they finally gave Ethan and Julia's relationship some closure. She's moved on and he's accepted it. Loved having Rebecca Ferguson back. She's easily if not the best leading lady in this series and has good chemistry with Cruise.

Easily an A from me. I have no doubt we'll be seeing Ethan Hunt and company again in 2021 or 2022 and Cruise will still look like he's 40-ish at 60.

BTW, I did see it in IMAX and if you can afford spending the extra cash, it's worth it. I actually had a leftover black ticket coupon from AMC that I didn't use and paid $5 out of pocket.

Damn what a badass movie this was. I wasn’t expecting much based on the trailers but this was fantastic. It’s kind of crazy how this franchise has actually gotten progressively better as it’s gone on. The first couple were okay but three onwards have just been nonstop thrill rides. Cruise is on top of his game still and the rest of the regular cast is great too. Also really liked Cavill as the villain. The guy is actually a good actor when given a good script to work with. I could definitely see him as a bigger action star (he was also fairly decent in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. a few years back).

Anyone notice that the scene at the end of the first trailer when he is in the helicopter and is heading straight at a huge truck is not in the movie? What the heck. I wanted to see how he avoids the truck.

I haven't seen a bathroom fight scene as good as this since True Lies.

I wonder how many more of these Cruise will do. I need to get around to buying the movies on Blu-ray one of these days but will probably just wait for the inevitable six movie collection at this point.

Re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (McQuarrie, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thre

As usual the action scenes were fantastic. And as usual the plot was pretty hokey. But it was enough to string the action scenes together.

When watching a movie like this with such incredible stunt work, I can't help but think what a shame it is that C.G.I has desensitized our eyes to the point that you could just as easily believe it was all done digitally.

3.5/5

I don't know how they top the stunt work in this, but then again I've thought that before.

ps I've been to the theater probably more than 1000 times and tonight was the first time I've witnessed a fight break out in the crowd. I got sprayed with an iced coffee that was chucked but the people beside me got fucking hosed. They gave out free passes at the end, so all in all a little iced coffee got me a free IMAX movie.
