Why did HBO/Starz not get into kids programming?

Why did HBO/Starz not get into kids programming? Netflix/Amazon/Hulu since they started have focused on kids TV shows as well as programming for an older audience to entice subscribers. HBO have recently acquired the rights to Sesame Street but other than that it's not something they tried at all. Netflix has deals with DreamWorks to have their kids TV shows on its platform. The streamers see kids programming as a way to cater to a family audience. Why didn't/don't HBO/Starz develop their own kids shows to take on Disney/Nickelodeon/CN like the streaming services have?

I think HBO produces Sesame Street now.
They had a lot of kid's programming back in the 80s and 90s but have since largely moved away from it.

HBO did in the 80’s and 90’s. Babar, Paddington Bear, Encyclopedia Brown, The Adventures of Titin etc... I’m guessing they just don’t bring subscribers. The thing with kids shows is that children will watch the same thing over and over again. Many years ago I remember reading an article about why Nickelodeon wasn’t rushing new episodes of Spinge Bob. It seems the brand new episodes were drawing the same number of viewer and old episodes.

HBO had Fraggle Rock back in the day, but that is all I can remember before the Sesame Street deal.

But why really acquire the rights to Sesame Street and then produce no other kids shows? It's Sesame Street and that's it.

There's Esme and Roy coming as well.

By my count they have 12 different children's series currently streaming on their app and lots of kids movies of course. They make their app so that kids can only access the Kids tab if parents want, and I think they still have an all-kids channel on the cable box. It's not only Sesame Street.

I was actually really surprised when they took on Sesame Street, especially because it airs on public tv a little later anyway. They've always had a kids block, but I can understand why they didn't want to go all out and buy a bunch of kids shows; unless they devoted an entire channel to it, I think there's too much risk to have something like GoT airing on the same channel that kids are going to be programmed to tune into.

I think Cinemax cornered that market with their Saturday night features.

Do Starz only have streaming/app rights to shows listed like Thomas the Tank Engine/Bob the Builder? They don't seem to air them on their Starz Kids and Family linear TV channel?

I think El Perro y el Gato still produces new episodes.
