Is Don Mancini's classic '80s killer doll movie Child's Play the next on the remake block? The answer is a yes, something that B-D has been quite aware of for a few weeks now. Unfortunately we were sworn to secrecy and now the dudes over at STYD have uncovered some heavy details from producer David Kirschner! It looks like Charles Lee Ray will become the demonic doll Chucky once again... only this time more terrifying.
Is there any way to stop all these fucking things? Seriously man. They wont stop until they find themselves remaking a remake while filming the remake!

Why don't they just make another sequel, but take it back to a scarier tone like the first 3? I love Bride but Seed was kinda stupid...although not as stupid as remaking the original!

Eh, if they have to do a remake, I'd rather they NOT use Dourif's voice. A remake should have its own identity, and having Dourif as the voice would just make people think of the originals and confuse some into thinking it is a sequel. If they want to use his voice, they might as well just make more sequels.

After giving this some thought, the only way it might work is if Brad Dourif DOES return and they show more backstory intio his character before he becomes the doll. Once he becomes the doll, they should do something completely different than the andy barkley story. I think they should make the story totally different, hence making this more of a different take on the original, rather than a remake.

The movie was cheese fun - they aren't remaking Psycho (wait....) its Chucky...the 4th class horror franchise of the 80's...will people get upset when the remake Critters?

Being a fan of the Chucky franchise; and not a fan of god awful horror remakes, I have no fu*king clue why somebody would even think of remaking Child’s Play.
Seriously, the series has only had 5 movies and I guess my hopes of another sequel are squashed. I know some might disagree, but I think Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky are the two best films in the franchise and only the original tops them. They’re all great and only Child’s Play 3 was weak.
I like how the series has progressed more into a comedy than a horror franchise and I like Chucky's "Smart-Ass" comments; plus no Jennifer Tilly? Outrage!!!

How about a Munchies remake while they're at it?
I agree with Drexl, Dourif shouldn't be involved, maybe a cameo or something. If he is used, it wouldn't be much different than a sequel.

I consider myself to usually be open to the idea of remakes but I could not summon up any interest in this if Brad Dourif isn't Chucky/Charles Lee Ray. He made the Chucky movies worth watching for me and I think his contribution to the series is incalculable.

How can they remake the chucky franchise, when they have still made sequels recently.

Should just be a 'from the ground up' sequel IMO. Ditch Tiffany and Glen and have Chucky do what he does best...try to get his soul into the body of Andy Barclay's son! A remake seems retarded.

Why do they need to remake every damn horror movie? Ok, I can understand taking a crack at the bad ones, but the original Child's Play is actually a halfway decent flick.
How long until The Exorcist gets remade?

Horror remakes are all about money. You dont need a big budget, the actor and director can be no names hacks so there is very little overhead. Its not about vision, talent or being the next Oscar winner. Its about filling the theaters with 18-24 year olds with nothing better to do and lots of expendible cash on an opening night Friday or Saturday, making a quick few million dollars and then getting it out of the theaters in the 3rd week.
They cost very little to remake and the profit is silly. Hollywood may lack vision and talent but they certainly know how to make money.

News out of this past weekend's International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival at the Harkins Centerpoint Theate in Tempe - Linda Blair, there to introduce THE EXORCIST, hinted that a remake of the film is in the works.... and judging by the look on her face, she's not happy about it!
........you asked..........
