a bit surprised not to see a thread on this already. Did I miss it despite searching? I for one love Amy Adams and am pretty excited. Thought I saw something before WW last night indicating it started earlier but a July 8 premiere makes sense with the big vacation week coming up... I've enjoyed all of the Flynn books so far as well so this could be quite interesting..

Here's the trailer:

It has 11M views on YouTube. But what is there really to talk about 2 weeks before it airs?

Bad News though. TV Line put out an early review and they said it's a frustratingly slow burn. They gave it a B-

Slow burn shows usually die a quick death as far as interest goes in this forum. Very few here have patience for a slow burn series.

Because we're all roommates... and you can only be a roommate if you don't ask stupid fucking questions.

I read the book... it was good, not great. I think this would have been more anticipated (by me anyways) as a feature film instead of a series.

Well, I view this as an 8hr visit with Amy Adams vs a 2hr movie. Hell she made Batman Vs Superman watchable for me.

Both True Detective seasons were slow burn. The first one worked, the second not so much. If nothing else, Amy Adams is easy on the eyes. In terms of it dying a slow death, it's a limited series so if nothing else we'll see the story we were intended to see play out in its entirety.

A lot of focus on sounds in the first episode.

Re: Sharp Objects (HBO) -- limited series -- S: Amy Adams, D: Vallée -- premieres 7/8

-I'm ok with Slow Burn HBO series. I've not really been disappointed by any of them.
-Amy Adams <3 I have confidence that IF this series ends up not being good it won't be because of her...Love Her, So Purdy....
-Danny from "The Mindy Project"
-I LOVE her Mom's house
-I was just thinking about the actor playing her Amy's Step Dad. He was in "Clear and Present Danger" just like the dude playing Amy's boss. How interesting that he should pop up in this series.
-Cinematography on the series.

Spoiler:

-Amy rubbing one out thinking about porn images she saw as a kid in a creepy shack...creepy as fuck...Could not fap. But I'm guessing it will mean something later?
- When her mom walked out of her old room after she arrived, where did the girl sitting on the couch upstairs come from?!?!? I was like what is real?!! Ok, I get it. She came out of the other bedroom, but still! That was a weird shot.

Henry Czerny appeared in lots of stuff during the 90's (Canadian TV shows and movies, bigger productions like the first Mission Impossible and The Ice Storm. I haven't seen him in anything for awhile, so I was pleasantly surprised/shocked when I saw his name in the opening credits.

Yeah, it took me until well into the next scene to figure that shot out as well.

Also, between this and Junebug, I can't think of another Academy Award nominated actor who's performed as much on-screen masturbation

I really liked this, I may just find myself breaking out some led zep if she keeps that up driving around.

Did anyone else catch the "easter egg" in the last seconds on her arm while she was in the tub?

I also have to say the girl from "It" is the perfect "younger Amy Adams" I mean holy crap...

Do you mean the words she cut into herself? All episodes are named after words like this.

yes, it was a little subtle how it flashed white for a few seconds.

Also, what's up with Heavy Drinkers and Self Abusers "PSA" after the credits? They don't do that on Game of Thrones!

Definitely a slow burn type series. The cinematography and acting was top notch, and since I grew up in far west KY not too far from the geographical region of this series, I was able to appreciate the accuracy with which they portrayed small town Middle America. That said, if I didn't have those connections, or if this series didn't star Amy Adams (so easy on the eyes), I would probably have bailed after the first half hour.

I agree, that was a little jarring and given how the episode played out with figments of Amy Adams’ imagination/memories from her past jumping in and out of reality, it was hard to tell what was real and what wasn’t.

I enjoyed the episode and although it does have a slow burn feel to it, Amy Adams is enough to keep me watching. She was looking a little thicker in this show and I thought she looked great!

I got a kick out of the younger version of Camille being played by the girl from It since everyone commented on how much she looked like Amy Adams. This show brought to you by the fine people at Tito's, Absolut, and Parliament.

Yeah, in some scenes i found myself wondering if she was her daughter.
